Shop recommendation for IMS retrofit in Sac/Bay Area?
I have been debating doing to the IMS retrofit since I bought my early 2005 model 997 C2 earlier this year. Tonight I finally got around to changing the oil since it had been ~6 month and 5k miles since the last one. I found minimal amount of metal shavings in the old oil filter when cut/inspected. Although the mount of metal shavings was not significant, it was enough for me to go for the LN IMS retrofit.
Any recommendations for shops in the sac/bay area? I live in Davis, so Sac area is preferred, but I can travel if needed. And what is the typical price range for such a job? thanks!

Contact Flintworks in Campbell.
They specialize in the IMS retrofit using the new ceramic bearing to replace the original steel part.

Are the metal shaving magnetic? If yes, good decision to do the IMS retrofit.
I'm curious to know the condition of the old bearing especially the seals. You should also pop off the seals to check if the grease is still intact or has it been washed away. Spin it and see if there are any free play.
Give us some updates.

If you're willing to come to Campbell give Bay Area Motorworks a call also. Nice clean shop staffed with top notch mechanics. They have been through Jake Raby's M96 engine training class which includes IMS retrofit. The owner of BA Motorworks leaves this week for Georgia to attend Jake's M96 engine rebuilding class. He believes in constant ongoing training for himself and his mechanics.
