If I understood the thought process behind car covers I could rule the world

It's just a car.

Covercraft make an indoor cover called Form-Fit that is made of a stretchable material with a soft lining. It goes on easily but still fits snugly. It also comes in a variety of colours.

Mine sits in the third bay so the car stays clean if people (Son's) close the garage door. My brother gave me a lite weight Camaro SS cover that I use when I go on vacation. It is very easy to put on and off. I also have a 20 year old Trans Am 100% Cotton/Canvas cover that has a flanel feel on the inside. This one is my favorite because it doesn't mare the wax. I've used it outdoors for years and the cover is still perfect except where a mouse made a hole. The canvas cover is machine washable too. Link below:

I guess I haven't bought a Porsche cover because I have two that fit fine. If your car's are outside you may need something that can handle the weather. Just don't buy a cheap one.

the dealer just selected that one for my car....

It might only be prudent for storage over a week especially if you live in dusty areas. You're right....if you wash you car a couple times a week then the cover is worthless.

Yeah, I think I might do that since I'm storing it for almost 5 months

I have a Griot's Garage cover that fits great, and my car has the aero kit, so I too have the rear spoiler. the cover is not too tight but clearly contoured for the car, and very simple to put on and take off. Also has built in mirror pockets which makes it easier to line it up and provides an anchor it so it's not sliding off when pulling it down over the front or rear bumper.
