Winter tires
Ah, it's good to be slightly south of the snow line. I run summer tires all year round, and simply don't drive the couple days a year it's snowy. In fact, the snow removal plan pretty much consists of "wait until it melts". But it's surprisingly effective, and driving on snowy/icy roads full of drivers that have no idea how to drive on snowy/icy roads is pretty much russian roulette. So, I just wait a few hours until the snow melts, wait a few more hours for the accidents to get cleared, and then go. Much easier than dealing with snow tires.
I switched to my "winter" set in Maryland a week ago. They are all seasons instead of pure winters. Mostly for the cold rain we get in Maryland. No snow yet and I have a minivan for those days. The nights are getting down to the 30s and my summer tires were hard as rocks in the AM. It was time.

Really should have done it by now here in NE. The PZero's were squirrelly this morning in 24F weather. It warms up the rest of the week so I should be good until switchout in a week - soonest I could get an appointment.
I put mine on November 1st, and they will come off May 1st. We have had two storms already - 12 inches last week, and 24 inches over the weekend. Last year, I ran Contis - but this year went with narrower Blizzaks in 18s. They are amazing in the deep stuff.
The Tire Rack guys think I am nuts for going narrow, but then again I get 350+ inches of snow in a winter and Indiana does not... Just sayin.
