Tachometer needle sag

Hey folks,
Getting ready to store my 997 for the winter![crying](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bigcry.gif)
I figured this winter might the time to address a weird "situation" with the tachometer needle. As you'll see from the two pics, it has shifted downward somehow. One pic with car running, the other pic with car shut off.
I figure I'm off 700-800 RPMS throughout the rev band as a result.
I'd like to pull the cluster while it sits this winter and have it repaired. Does anyone have suggestions or ideas what happened, where to send it, etc?
Thanks in advance!

I would not necessarily assume the problem is with the tach rather than with the sending unit or the related electronics. It is not a mechanical system after all. Looks like a trip to your favorite service center is in order. Please post what you learn. Very strange.

Sounds like it needs a viagra!
But seriously, If it's consistently like that, I'm guessing the stepper motor lost it's zero. You should be able to remove the needle and put it back on at the zero. GM cars had some years of bad stepper motors and I've replaced quite a few already.

Haha! Yea it needs viagra for sure.
Well I will pull the cluster and ask the local service center -- my indy tech was just going to send to Speedometer in Palo Alto. I suppose I can do that, too.
