Everyone always laughs at me and shakes their head when I tell them I'm going to drive the 911 through the winter. I'm not worried at all. Of course, I won't be driving it through actual snow, but as long as there's no snowpack on the streets, I'm good to go!

Already snowing here in central NJ. They're calling for 2-5 inches tonight. (insert your own joke here...)
How wide are your rears? I just switched over to my 18s with 265 rears. The rear end is pretty loose with this setup, which is kind of fun in wet weather. Breaks loose quite readily in 1st and 2nd gears on wet roads. Far different (and more fun at semi-legal speeds) than the limpet-like grip of the 295mm PS2s.

My fronts are 235, rears are 265. How squirrelly they are, I'm assuming, has more to do with the tire/width combo rather than just width alone. So far in the 24 hours they've been on the car I haven't driven them very hard at all, so I'll do a more thorough review in a few weeks.

What I meant by "rides like a Lincoln Town Car" was more about the plushness of the ride rather than the lack of solid handling. The suspension seems much less harsh with the 18" wheels, although I never really minded the 19" ride. But now I know what it could feel like.

I agree that the extra sidewall makes a big difference in the ride. I like it enough that I may stick with 18s year round.

I was mostly commenting on the clear reduction in rear traction going from 295 to 265mm width. Kind of fun

I saw you posted the video with the Mecaglisse instructor. Probably the only local track I haven't been too...

Cars are like my addiction. I wish I had gone with a 911 years ago. I probably would have had fewer cars along the way and saved some money too!
