Default Sharkwerks IPD Competition Plenum

Hey everyone I am new here and this is my first post

Just wondering if anyone, especially Northern California fellas has one of these babies on their car and what they think about them.

Thinking about doing some small mods to my 997 c2s gen1

Thanks everyone!

Mods on N/A cars really do not yield that much performance for their cost. If you want to be faster join a Porsche Club and take some driving lessons and go to DE events. Much more fun and you will have these skills forever.

There are varying reports on the efficacy of that mod. there have been dynos that show no gain. there have been dynos that have shown a significant gain. Take from that what you will.

I think that you won't get a lot of HP gains, but if you mate that 82mm plenum with a GT3 TB and an enhanced CAI, maybe you may get 20HP if you also do the cats. I would wrap that up with a Tune for a more realistic HP number... with that being said, your car will breathe better and be more responsive for sure.

I have a X51 airbox on a non X51 car. Just bought the X51 TB (at a whooping 84mm, even bigger than the GT3) mated to a custom X51 84mm Plenum. The airbox alone, with the secondary intake, provided some perkiness on the car that I really appreciate on everyday driving... let's see how it behaves after the 84mm Plenum/TB

Have you seen any negative sides to that mod? I think I remember seeing someone saying that adding a different air box could potential lead to the engine ingesting something They sited how a large airbox is fine for a racecar since they rebuild the engine anyway.

I honestly have no idea on that matter, but I would like to hear more about your first hand experiences with the x51.

The x51 airbox is Porsche OEM box. not race only. I don't see how the car could ingest anything weird from the snorkels...

I will agree with that. If I remember correctly they were talking about that possibility with SW intake box they sell.

So if I want to see an actual hp increase I should go with the x51, gt3 throttle body, and gt3 intake manifold? Sorry I'm kind of new to this mechanical in depth part, I just drive lolz

To see actual increase of HP, you need to upgrade the mouth and the ***. (jk!) meaning that air that comes in, has to come out. Bigger TB, plenum and optimized Airbox are as good as the system putting the exhaust out (equal length headers and 200 cell cats) then you could see some increased number, all that wrapped around a softronics tune. I'm on stage I: intake (mouth) X51 Carbon Airbox, X51 TB (84mm) and 84mm Motorsports Plenum. Stage II will be the 200 cel cats (as I have the X51 Headers already and Stage III: Softronics. Done.

Notice any butt dyno improvements from the TB and plenum?

butt dyno says the car is perkier. delivery is smoother and linear... no hesitation. really like it!

What kind of hp and torque gains can you see from these changes? Would i be on par with a gen2 c2s?

once everything is said and done you may see 30 HP... 10 from the original bolt ons (airbox, TB, plenum, headers, cats) and 20 from the tune. this number is very conservative but realistic.

Oh nice so that will basically bring my gen1 up to gen2 standards in those respects!

How do I get to add a signature at the bottom of my posts like some of you guys have?
