Default Problem with 997 DME

I am in the middle of a problem. I was driving and saw my oil pressure gauge go to maximum, no matter what the rpm's. Turned ignition off and gauge went to zero appropriately. Switched ignition on (without starting engine) and needle goes to maximum, like an electrical problem. Was near dealership so drove in and showed them. It does the same thing repeatedly. Key off zero, key on (without starting) maximum. We theorized it was the sending unit or sensor. They check it out and now tell me it's the DME. They have never seen this before and are checking with Porsche. Recently out of CPO and the part alone is $2100. Does anyone know anything about this?

Sorry, it is 2006 Carrera S with 71,000 miles. There was absolutely NO change in the engine performance. They tell me they determined it by "borrowing" a DME to substitute and thatvfixed it. Any advice or observations?

Hi Paul,

I think you meant to start a new thread, and instead posted here.

Lewis, did you do the clear corners yourself, or have them installed? I have a set I just got from Amazon (OEM Porsche, though) and I am wondering whether to tackle the installation myself or have them done.

Thanks!

Pete

$57 for the pair? For 997?

Huh?

We sell 'em everyday for $38/pair plus shipping (still under $47 total).

Either way, enjoy. Far better look than the silly ambers PAG sticks us with.

Beer - it's in your manual. 2 minutes each, easy.

I'm glad whomever did the work for you didn't charge any labor - it's a 5 minute job!

Brewer - I did this switch by looking online for instructions and tackling it myself. They really do just pop out and pop in. But look online for a step-by-step guide so you know from where to pull and don't break any clips.

So easy and a noticeably better look!

I don't get the ***** reference but the clear side markers are a nice DIY upgrade.

1st step is complete, now what bulbs do you have?
The chrome bulb is still yellow , the yellow bulb sucks, because now you still have a yellow lens with the bulb showing thru. So the answer is a T10 error free LED in xenon white color, this gives you a near match to the headlites

I am not sure if that is legal in my state.
