Default my new car

ABout a month ago my wife purchased a new Cayenne Diesel(lease).
Well my car was a 2011 Boxster S which I did love but due to mileage issues we thought it would be smarter to have 2 cars that the 3 of us could travel in.Our boy is 11 and we live more or less in the middle of nowhere!!
I have owned 3 boxsters and 1 Cayman and now my 3rd 911..
I had some really great 911's (87-95-07S).
I am a bit nuts cause this time last year I was driving a 2010 Cayman 2.9..Great car but just under powered.I should have gotten an S.I drove it for about 15 months and sold it for a 2011 boxster S..I really did like that car..It was pretty quick and fun to drive around our country roads.
I had always wanted another 911 and really loved the looks of the 997.Days before I found this car I had a very long test drive with a new C63 merc...It was really fast and that was about it for me..I am very happy that I pulled the trigger on this car..I have always wanted a Porsche with full leather,I know thats funny to some but i really like it..The boy loves sitting in the back and thinks its so much cooler than the Boxster..He told me after I sold it,that he always thought it was a little girly..
I can only add this.I spend a lot of time reading on a lot of Porsche forums. There always seems to be this competition as to what is the better car...
Yes the Cayman/Boxster is a great drivers car..The 911 is really an amazing car as well..I have been blessed to have all of them..I really loved my last Boxster S and only kept it for 7-8 months(thats a record for me)..I can say that the 911 S is by far the best Porsche I have ever owned..and when I am totally honest my list would be something like this:
1. 2007 911s
2.1987 911
3.1995 911
4.2011 Boxster S
5-7 would be 1999 Boxster-2000 Boxster S-2010 Cayman 2.9
I am not the best driver in the world but I have spent enough time driving 911's to have an understanding how to drive them.Honestly the Box/cayman are so amazing that they are a bit boring..I like the involvement of the 911..My wife is enjoying it as well.At 1st she missed the Boxster cause it was cute and had the top down option..she is now really starting to get why the 911 is so amazing..
My only regret is that I sold my 87..We are talking about getting an older 911 as a 3rd car and having some fun with it when we dont need A/c..
thanks,Joey

Joey beautiful car.. I also recently a few months back sold my Cayman S. I bought a 2006 Carrera S cabriolet. Although the Cayman S as you stated is a drivers car and I must admit probably the best handling Porsche . But I really am glad I traded up to the 911 I think in the back of my mind I was always thinking I should of bought the 911. I am also blessed and never seem to forget that! Enjoy...

Thanks Steve!!
I love my 911 and it was worth the $$$ I lost on the Boxster(oh well)..I really enjoy owning a piece of Porsche history..I love that although its 20 years newer,my 997 totally reminds me of my 87 911.

Super nice car Joey. I've driven the new Boxster and loved getting back in my 911. There's something that's 'untamed' about it that I like. Congrats. Enjoy it. Lots of mod options if you are some inclined...

I thought about a boxster and cayman when I first started looking to buy a car and somehow ended up with a carrera gts. I felt that I would always want a 911 so I upped my budget and went for it. You definitely ended up with the better car in the end.

I went from a Boxster to a Cayman S to a 997.1s, similar to you. The 997.1 is just a better built car all around in my opinion. The Cayman was just too loud with the engine right behind you. The Boxster had all sorts of rattles. Both 987 cars felt underpowered. The Carrera is just right.

Ha! OK. Here's a short list for you:
1. Gundo Hack. Arguably the best exhaust note for the buck. If you ever sell the car you MAY need to put back in a OEM exhaust. You can find used ones on RennList.

2. Sport Chrono without the Chrono. You can add this on without the dash wart and have improved throttle response. The C2S I feel can use this this.

3. Interior painted / leather / carbon fiber pieces. The interior of these cars is nicely enhanced with a painted rear consul, leather pieces etc... There's lots of message threads in RennList that describe this.

4. Performance upgrades. Lots ranging from X51 headers and air intake box to coil over supsension and anti-sway bars to flashing the software and racing seats. Other guys can chime in in this one.

That's a start for you. Let the games begin! Have fun with your car.

If I had kept my C2S it was my next mod.

Have a read through Edgy’s thread '70,000 Mile Suumary...'. He's on a great list of mods he's done over the years.
