Default Escort redline feedback

I'm planning a long road trip and am considering adding an escort redline radar detector to gain some extra range. I have an installed laser jammer but am concerned with standard radar. Any feedback?

No experience with this one although the reviews are good. You'll find most drivers here have Valentines's or Escort 9500’s.

I run the redline along side my V1. I have been using the redline for about a year and a half. Its a great detector. What kind of driving do you? Flat roads? Mountain driving? What kind of radar is used in your area ( X,K,KA, Instant on, Constant On, Quick Trigger) You can expect a great range from the redline and its off axis detectin is great. Escort will be implementing RDR and BS to the redline in the future and that will make it so much better. RDR is radar detector rejectin so it will reject false alerts from other radars that leak like cobras. BS is band segmentation of the Ka band and will allow you to turn off scanning of fequences that arent used in your area. Also what kind of jammer are you running? I run the Blinder HP-905 as my jammer. Thing works great. Feel free to post any questions you have about radar or laser, i can answer most questions. from optimal install locations, interfeerence, etc. also does your car have an IR/Heat resistant windsheild? if so then a winshield mounted radar will not be effective in protecting you.

I have the 9500ix in my wife's Lexus(mainly city) and Redline in my Carrera for those long drives as I normally don't speed in the city. The Redline has distance over the 9500ix but the ix is better at filtering fault alerts in the city. So I use the right tool for the job. BTW, I also use a Smartphone app: Trapster which will suck your smartphone battery dry if you don't charge while in use but it's pretty effective as well. Best policy, of course, is just to apply situational awareness and be selective about how/where/when you speed.

well said, the redline is a beast and its range great. the 9500 does a great job at filtering and the gps allows for a very quiet rd around town. Just sold mine not too long ago. I also run waze on my smart phone.

I find that LEO has been zeroing in on my AM(after market) exhaust note lately but it's so intoxicating... not sure I'd have it any other way. Just had one pull me over to talk car a few weeks back. Would be interested in your take, Laxman, on whether the new Redline RDS and BS features are worth the upg cost.

thats a great question. To me yes the cost is worth it, I assume the upgrade cost will be around 90-120 bucks to send in to do, less if you have escort live as that is what the update will come though. to most 98% of the market will not use it even if it comes preloaded on the RD. Most customers only care that it works out of the box and if they have to send it in or do the update manually will make it so a majority either dont know or dont care enough to go through with it. Countermeasuers are something that i am passionate about. For example, my current setup is:

*Redline
*V1 (3.893 With ESP)
*Blinder HP-905 Quad
*BlackVue DR-400 GPS Dashcam
*Veiled headlights and grille
*Veiled laser shield on the plate
*Waze on my smart phone
*Trapster on my gps

All running togeather and

*Escort live on order
* And a digital scanner in my future.

I use a Redline for trips. Not so much in town, although I sometimes run it just to see what the "PoPo" is doing. Few red light cams, so I'm really using it for open road travel. I first ordered the 9500, but for me the Redline is a better fit. Couple of weekends ago I get an alert, stays with me, I think it's a unit behind me, shooting oncoming traffic. This goes on for 5-6 minutes, then waaaaay in the distance (like 2 miles), two units have a guy pulled, all his stuff spread out on the ground. Now I didn't measure anything, but the 1st alert had to be close to 8 miles out. I'm not kidding. But, perfect detection conditions. Flat, open ground, no obstacles, straight head-on.

I was impressed.

Open road, Redline.

In a city with lots of traffic cams, 9500.

Good luck.

Redline's performance is comparable to V1. However, the Redline is undetectable to current LEO equipment. The V1 is not.

also is correct, only really matters if you are in VA or DC. Or parts of Canada. The redline has some ramp up issues, and is not as good as the v1 with I/O radar. thats why i run both. i love the spec display of the redline so i know what frequesnsy it is detecting. ie: 34.5, 24.7, really helps to determine if its a real threat or just a false. also will allow you to show an out of tune gun from the leo and tooss the tickey out if the radar gun was not properly callibrated.

Fantastic feed back! It looks like redline it is. My jammer is also an escort and part of an installed and stealthy system. I'll use the redline for highway trips as you all referenced.

Cheers

Northern VA enforcement is up significantly. Redline or similar is a must. Unfortunately, V1 no longer cuts it.

i believe the bel magmum is un-detectable, you could still run the v1 but have a dummy detector (cheap cobra) on hand incase you get stopped. better to loose that than the v1.
