I did a search but just saw one thread on this.

my 997.1 stereo voume buttons are sticky which is a known issue. I just want to confirm that I can just pull it straight off by force....no other tools needed? thanks.

They pull straight out. I just cleaned mine a few days ago. Had to soak them in Simple Green overnight, and then brush fairly aggressively to get all the stuck-on gunk off. Came out nice and clean.

Nope...it was an older thread talking about use aceton to stip off the coating....thanks for the link anyways.

I used a butter knife to pop both buttons off.
Bought new ones from Suncoast for about $30.
No longer sticky.

I masked the surroundings off with blue painters' tape and de-gunked mine in-situ. Best done with the ignition off or "it might get loud"
