1962 Beauty
So I pull up to my usual garage spot this morning to find this right accross (where a 2010 997.2 usually sits). It is a 1962 356B Series 60. Sorry about the crappy phone picture. It really doesn't do it justice. It looks like it just came out of the factory yesterday.

OMG Could you imagine having the Smurf GT3 with this Smurf 356 sitting side by side in your garage?
One of my neighbors has a really cool silver 356 but he seems unapproachable; must be from the Northeast....no eye contact and no waves hello.
I'd really like to see one of these cars up close.

After further research, this appears to be a pretty rare Karmann Hardtop Notchback. In fact, I think it is this car on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...t_51606wt_1168

Looks like the car was sold to my garage neighbor as it is no longer available on eBay. What a gorgeous car. I hope he brings it in often!

That's a nice example of a Notchback. They are not terribly rare. Actually they were not favored for a long time and were at the bottom end of 356 pricing, but in recent years they seem to be making a comeback. They were made by Karmann (which made the cabriolet bodies for Porsche) when Reutters couldn't keep up with coupe demand, and they used the cabriolet body but modified it into a coupe, hence the different rear windows.
Here's an example of Speedster Red (aka Signal Red):
