Installed Zunsport Front Grills on 997.2
2 Attachment(s)
I just installed my Zunsport front grills on my black 997.2 Carrera S. The car had the sport design front grill ordered from the factory when I bought it from the dealer. It is the same as the GTR grill.
It took about 45 minuter to intall them including seeing how they would fit first. They fit very well and easy to install. This is first time I am attaching photos to a tread. Hope they come out. If not any help anyone can give me will be appreciated. There are a few installation tips I can post if anyone is interested? Attachment 656097 Attachment 656098 |
Sweet! Nice job!
|
I contacted Zunsport a couple months ago after seeing a 997.1 with the mesh. I wanted the mesh to fit my 997.2. They wanted me to send the exact deminsions of my grill openings. I did not feel like I could sufficiently measure the openings so I dropped the matter. Did they have your pattern?
|
Nice job! Can you post the installations steps and tips? Did you have to drill holes?
Thanks. |
Those look great! Me want....
Adds a measure of protection that's compelling here in rocky AZ. I looked everywhere, and it looks like Zunsport only makes them for your front and Turbo's....dammit They're missing a huge segment by not making them for 997.2's. |
Nice..I amd not much of a DIY-er and hope this is easy, please share the instal tricks and tips

I've been thinking about getting something for my GTS. How much was shipping from the UK?

I used a 'Promotion Code' and got a 15% discount. I suggest contacting Zunsport for details. |
Yet anothercrisis
When I asked about model they asked for photos of my front end which I sent them. They responed telling me they had a GTS in house to make their pattern. I ordered a set and they came from the UK. Long answer for yes they have the pattern. For those asking for install install hints let me take a few photos tomorrow to add to the instructions and I'll post them tomorrow. As far as shipping I have to look at my bill will post tomorrow. If I remember correctly the credit cars bill showed the total cost. Zunsport was real good to communicate with, but had to do it with e-mail because of the time difference. This was easier for me. Great product fits real well. |
I am puzzled as to why Zunsport has a kit for the GTS but not for 997.2 C2, CS, etc?
I guess I will order from Rennline... |

Doesn't the 'OP' (rjkjlk4576) have a 997.2? It appears that Zunsport does have the grille set you want.
|
APS997
Yes my car is a 997.2, but has the Sport Design Front Grill which is the same the GTS and the stock 997.2 grill. |
FYI fellow P members- just got word from them that the kit is now available for the 997.2 C2
I'm still undecided if I want them..keeping the nose clean or aggressive look with the grills... |
How about those install tips
Just got the black grills for my 997.1 with factory aerokit Car new to me in August Thanks |
I don't want to hijack Riley's thread, but from the looks of his grillles the installation is a combination of clips (which simply attach to the bumper cover) and pins (which require the drilling of small holes). Look at his pictures and you can see both the clips and pins attached to the grilles. If you have any mechanical skill then this will be an easy installation. You can see my instructions for 997.1 grilles here:
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...-required.html |
I put a set oh these on my 09 Cayman S. It took all of 20 minutes.
|
After some debating just put these on my 997.2 and it was a quick 20min job. For this model the grills only had tabs and no drilling required..the instructions made it harder than it should be- anyone need help with the install on their 997.2 let me know.

I have the GMG version of those screens. I wouldn't live with out them. I always have some debris or bug stuck in it....without the screen, it would be in your radiator!
|
I suppose you can even back up that nice grill with a finer mesh to filter out the smaller stuff and securing it to the Zunsport grills would provide both a template and a means to secure them.

Not sure how that would look cosmetically though .. |

can you tell me where to find these?
Note that they install in the inside not outside like the Zunsports |
I am very interested in these, despite the price tag (for what they are it seems a little steep, no?) You guys that have bought the black, is it painted or some sort of more durable or baked like finish?

vg247- Thanks for the pictures; I ordered these grills for my Meteor Grey C4S and expect them in about 1 week or so.
|
Thanks for the pics VG. Looks good. You may just have made up my mind for me!
|
My pleasure, thanks guys!
|
In the SF Bay Area we have so much debris on the freeways and roads that I look at this as doing what I can to avoid a puncture to one of the radiators. So though it may alter the look of the front end somewhat, it serves a valid purpose and will hopefully save me an expensive repair down the road.
|
+1 on grills. Installed some during my 3rd rad install when I had my front fascia off. Could not believe the debris I found blocking my radiators from the PO... paper towel, large bugs, twigs, leaves, etc. Try to clean what you can off the existing rads before you install the grills. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...il-filter.html

My grills arrived yesterday! I will install them as soon as I get a chance. Zunsport was terrific to deal with and shipped immediately. Zunsport.co.uk if you want to look for grills for your car.
|
VG's pics look good , but the end grilles need to be behind the slats

On the 997.2's they fit over the grills/ slates: see Zunsport website pix here http://www.zunsport.co.uk/product.asp?id=288 |

Thanks- actually, I believe for 997.1's they sit behind the slates.

They need to be recessed, or rear installed. Just my opinion:bigbye: |
I agree with Mumbles. They need to be rear installed. But if they are, and you need to clean out any debris that manages to get past the grilles, you need to take out the bumper cover. It's quite the dilemma.
|
Installed these today. Easy and lightning quick shipping. Took bumper off yesterday and cleaned out radiators. Highly recommended

I went with the Zunsport center grill for my black 2010 4S Cab, and after 3 years it still looks great with a fit and finish that are perfect. But I opted to NOT buy the side grills because I really don’t like the look of their side grills that install over the horizontal fins - I just doesn’t look finished to me. So I ended up buying a set of side grill covers from ChicagoSpeed996 on this forum. They match the Zunsport perfectly and install inside the bumper cover and don’t require bumper removal. It’s a great combo and keeps all the Chicago highway trash outta my radiators
|
I have a TTS. i am going to install tonight. Looks like the 2 screws for the center grill just go into a plastic duct on either side. i assume that this is not a problem.
