Good question, CAA. I got mine from Suncoast too. I'm not trying to encourage you to spend your hard earned money, but I'd be remiss if I didn't add that I absolutely love the look and feel of this wheel, the paddles, and that it's worth every penny......

Apologies to the OP for going OT.....

Ok, look at my sig and I am qualified to comment. The 40th anni is a fine car. 997 folks don't like the 996 but I didn't have any issues with mine. I liked the interior and I had no issue with the looks. The 997 is more refined, does look slightly better and is an all around better car. I did not see the point in upgrading to a 997.1 so I waited. The 997.1 did not feel much quicker (if at all), whereas the 997.2 was noticeably quicker. Plus you don't have any RMS/IMS concerns, again starting with the 997.2 in 2009.

Would I recommend it. Hell yes. The 997.2 is a sleeper. I like the sport pasm which makes it feel a little harsher and lower. But in normal suspension mode it's still more refined than the anni. The interior and all the rest of it is just that much better. I'm very happy with mine and although I like and respect the 991, don't feel the urge to upgrade. So much so, I bought mine off lease (my lease was not up till Sept) and added CPO so I have 3 more years of warranty. I have 17,000 miles. With my 997.2, I have all the mod cons including BT, nav (which is excellent vs. crappy on the 996), iPod integration, etc. all this with 385 hp (conservative) and more torque.

I did that last year. from a 2002 996 C2 to a 2005 997. I couldn't be happier. The interior is miles ahead and you won't feel like you are in a taurus anymore. The 996 was more raw and I miss that. The 997 is more composed but I appreciate the nod to the past design of the headlights and the wider look of even the regular, non wide body 997. Maintenance is the same and it was a big plus to me as I do as much as i can myself and i put many miles to my cars.... It's an upgrade!

Quick Reply: 996 to 997 upgrade? Anyone that has done this?
