I am looking at the new 2012 997 targa 4s' on porsches website. So $8,000 more vs a 4s 997 is quite a chunck of money. But I have had a chance to see the roof from the inside of the vehicle. It defenitly gives more of an 'open air feeling', which I like, alot. I will probably look at used because the prices of a cpo 4s vs 4s targa dont seem very different. Another newbie question: What model year did Porsche start using the 'connecting strip' between the 2 tail lights? I see some 2011's with the strip and some without it. Was there a rear strip delete? I think I like it better without the stip but am not sure yet.

I enquired at Napleton Porsche if a roll bar could be fabricated for a 997 Targa. They said it should be possible, and they would charge about $1k more than a stock bar for the custom work. I didn't go any further but it seems like the option is there if you're committed enough.

The 4wd variants since MY2009 (the 997.2 production which started mid 2008), all have the red reflective strip. The 2wd variants do not.
