Not an expert by any means, but I looked at installing an aftermarket stereo with Bluetooth, Ipod and Navigation. I liked the Kenwood units mainly because the come with Garmin Nuvi navigation which is far better than the Porsche navigation. It was going to be $2,000. I ended up going with an '09. Don't really love the Porsche navigation, but it does the basic job.

Best to add on a dash mounted Tom Tom or the new Escort Passport IQ nav / radar detector system... IMO

Congrats, and welcome to the zoo.

Do you have PCM already (the larger screen, not the single din radio)?

I thought very seriously about some sort of integrated Sat-Nav/Bluetooth/iPod kit, but ultimately decided against it, opting instead for a Garmin Sat-nav with Bluetooth and FM transmitter. For a whopping $300 I've got touch-screen Sat-nav, iphone handsfree, and MP3 player (via SD memory card) all of which play through the stereo speakers. It's not perfect (hard to find a clear frequency in my area) but it suffices. The main reason I did not go with an integration kit is that if any one component were to fail--either the Nav/Bluetooth or the PCM, I would need to replace it in order to keep the system running.

Congrats and welcome - let's see some pics! I personally don't put factory nav systems high on the priority list. When needed I have a 9.99 iPhone app for nav with voice guidance that does the job quite well. Enjoy your new car.

Garmin is the best. Smart phones work good too. That new Samsung Galaxy middle weight unit is bad ***.

Where are the pictures of your new ride?

I suspect you can retrofit a system into the PCM but it will not come cheap. The dash models will be more modern in their User System Interface, however, they are both a (1) theft target and a (2) threat to the inside of your vehicle if left in the sun for the battery to bake and explode. (Did anyone else see those cockpit shots of an exploded navigation system battery??)

Just a quick head ups EddieL - we don't believe you have the car unless you post pics! Cough 'em up!
