Default Switching interior to Alcantara?

Looks like it's about $7,000 and a bit to use parts from Suncoast...

And a short shift kit for good measure...

It is beautiful stuff - but it will absorb oils from your skin and the appearance can change over time.

Agreed...good for the roof liner, but that's it.

Keep in mind that it is not leather. Not even suede. What's your objective? To be honest, if you are dead set to do it, go to a quality auto interior shop in your area and seek out an estimate to do that for you custom. For about $7,000 from Porsche (discounted with Suncoast) you are talking about enough money to incentivize some guy in your area to do that for you.

IMO, switching to Alcantara is like winning a gold medal in the Olympics and then having it bronzed.

Has anyone done just the center console? I am thinking of replacing the plastic one with alcantara.

The previous owner was a little rough on it and left some scratches. Maybe the suede like fabric would wear better.

No objective...just thought it would look cool and then looked it up. I'm not that crazy!

Had the same thought about the interior shop...you can probably get something even better/more interesting for that kind of money.

I don't think it will wear better. As others have pointed out...its not very resilient stuff. Looks cool though!

The best thing about Alcantara is having it in the seat centers - no more sliding around on leather! But it does wear poorly on steering wheel and handbrake.

I looked at a few cars in the past with this material and the stuff looked really bad after a couple years. If that doesn't bother you then go for it. I couldn't live with it but it's your car man.

That's dangerous stuff. It's addictive. I did this little by little, that way I don't have to know how much I've spent. Fun hobby, though. Good luck!

Very well done. The black leather inserts really create a nice contrast.

The black steering wheel and shifter look outstanding as well.

It always slays me why any auto manufacturer would put a tan / light colored steering wheel & shifter in a car. These parts are constantly touched when driving and they look absolutely horrible within 6 months of normal driving.

We had it on a 1998 Volvo V70R. Ours pilled and shed lint with long term use. Not a problem if you want to trade after 30k miles, but if you want to keep your car to 60 k miles or more, I'd avoid it. For $7k, you could get natural leather from the factory, couldn't you? Why go vegetarian for the same price?
