Default PDK problem

I recently purchased an '09 C4S with the PDK. I started the car the other day and the red warning - "Transmission Emergency Run" came on the display. I restarted the car and the warning disappeared. I do however, find that the transmission to be pretty rough in 1st gear, both when modulating the throttle when accelerating in 1st gear and when the transmission downshifts to 1st gear. I'm not sure whether this jerkiness is normal. I also drive an Audi TT 3.2 with the DSG transmission and it is much smoother.

Thanks in advance!

This problem has been reported before, usually related to a low battery. Drive the car and chances ae it will never happen again.

it will happen again. THere is a fix. But you have to go to the dealer. On my older 997.2, its kept coming back.

It's rough in sport or sport plus as it seeks first gear at low speeds. It's also a little rough for a mile or so until it warms up. If you want smooth, use normal (Lexus like, well not quite, but too lazy for me). It won't go to first in normal until you are dead stopped and there is no jerkiness.

As for the transmission message. Never had that in 17,000 miles.

Agree across the board. FWIW, I've noticed that in manual mode, which I use almost exclusively, the premature first-gear selection issue is pretty much non-existent.

I'm relieved by some of these responses. I've had my 997.2 pdk for a little over a week now and when coming to a stop at a light in sport mode there's a jarring downshift to first. So just to be clear, this is normal and no need to take it to the dealer? I've yet to engage Sport Plus but when I described this to a co-worker who previously owned one he said it isn't normal.....

Normal. Put it in normal and you won't have that jerk. Better yet, put it in manual and sport or sport plus for the best fun.

I find that when I have the car in sport mode if I shift to 1st at 10 mph I don't get the jerk.
