Default Recent Used 997.1 and 997.2 purchases

I'm not sure if I was searching incorrectly but couldn't find a thread aggregating recent purchase/sale prices.

I'm looking for either a 2006 997.1 2s or 4s with Tiptronic, or a 2009 997.2 Base or 2S (probably a launch car) with PDK. I've read some threads on here that the 997.2 would be a better choice. But once I've eliminated 997.2 models that were in accidents or had 2+ owners or no CPO, I find that that there is a 15-20K premium over a private party 997.1 2S. And most of those are lacking GPS and/or Chrono (which I view as necessary with PDK)

My two best choices are either a 2006 2S with about 24K for $48 or a 2009 2S with about 30K for $66. However the 997.2 is British Racing Green and is lacking GPS and I worry about resale value.

I'm curious the sale or purchase prices or any 997.1 or 997.2 in the last year. Responses would really help me narrow down how much of a discount I could probably get below the Dealer asking price.

Thanks !

I picked up a higher mileage (59k) 05' Carrera S for under $40k. So far my only real issue has been needing to swap the suspension out since two of the struts were leaking.

Good luck in your search. Persistence and patience are key to find the right car at the right price.

If you're buying an auto, get PDK. It's 100x better than Tiptronic for most situations. Additionally, the switchgear in the 997.2 is much better than 997.1. It's the only thing I really miss from my .2.

Is the 09 a better car ? In many ways it is a move forward, but in many ways its very much the same as the .1, the dynamics of driving the car are pretty much the same, the outward design is the same. Is it worth the higher price ? That's up to you.

Racing Green is really amazing up close, but its a more narrow segment of buyer. If resale is VERY important to you, maybe stick with a "safer" color.

I think the Tiptronic will sour the resale value more than the Green Paint. With the introduction of PDK in the 997.2 car the 997.1's tiptronic is viewed as going the way of the dodo. I love green and it's on the short list for the next one.

While driving them may seem similar, the 997.2 cars are MUCH faster (those extra 30 ponies are stout), and the switchgear, telematics, etc. are light-years better than the 997.1. When I first test-drove a 997.2, I was immediately impressed by the firm damping of the switches, the new black face of the PCM, and by the sheer grunt the DFI engines made. It's one reason I didn't get the Turbo I had in mind and stuck with a C4S. If I could change any one thing on my 997.1, it'd be to that improved switchgear. It makes such a tactile difference.

Thanks for all the responses and the purchase prices. Based on the praise for the green, I'm going to check it out at a dealer. You've convinced me on the silliness of getting Tip over PDK for the price savings. And I noticed in another thread that Porsche is doing 0% financing on 2008+ models so that could help a bit on the price difference.

Hi golfpig

I read it on a thread here. Post #26

https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ml#post9677364

EDIT: I spoke with a dealer and it's a no go on the 0%...that's only for new cars. I was quoted 3.9% but I look young so perhaps there was some assumptions being made. I didn't apply at that rate.

Not to sway your decision but I was just in the same spot you are and I stretched the budget a bit to get a gen 2 997 with pdk. This is coming from a diehard manual guy and I'm thrilled with the car, and it's a base Carrera not the S. As previously said, if you do opt for PDK make sure you get it with sport chrono option. Good luck with the search.

Thanks CAA. I've been stretching the budget quite a bit lately Test drove a PDK base with Chrono today and man, what a transmission ! I don't think PDK should be allowed to sell without Chrono...is it the wart that people hate?

purchased 2006 C2 from a porsche dealer with 40,815 miles on it. it was an one owner leased vehicle with clear carfax, and carproof as im in ontario. there is no warranty, however the dealer provided me with invoices over $10K to get the car up to their standard. i paid $45k before tax.

the cd player started skipping on playing its second cd after delivery..( im looking for diy post on how the replace the cd drive or is that possible?

I've owned both cars-a 997.1 with Tip, and now a 997.2 with PDK. Both are/were "S"'s.
There is a world of difference between the 2 cars, although the 997.1 didnt get a fair fight since it did not have Sport Chrono, and the .2 does.
PDK with the Sport Chrono, which you can add to a car without it, is a really fun tranny, not to mention the HP difference in the 2 cars.
