I bought my first Porsche (2011 997.2) about 10 months ago. Love the car overall but I've never been really satisfied with the exhaust note so I'm reviewing my options. I don't want to spend $3-4k for a PSE and now I'm considering a Sharkwerks exhaust but I have some questions.

I live in a quiet neighborhood and really don't want an exhaust sound that is overly loud or aggressive while driving at low, neighborhood speeds mainly out of courtesy to my neighbors. I do want something more aggressive but not obnoxiously loud. Also don't want to annoy my wife. .

Anyone have any thoughts on the sound of a Sharkwerks exhaust given the above considerations?

Also, anyone know whether the Sharkwerks exhaust will adversely affect the Porsche warranty?

Finally, any info as to total cost (parts plus installation) would be appreciated.

and with sport mode on you are still not satisfied with the sound ? i would think w sport mode engaged that would even be too loud for a neighborhood in 1st, 2nd gear running RPMs high up the street, adding sharkwerks would blow people away.

No, it's awfully tame for a sports car. Especially a Porsche.

I have an '08 C2S and just purchased an FVD exhaust system for very similar reasons. Hope it arrives this week. FVD has a reputation for being mellow below 3k RPM but amazing above that... perfect for my warm up drive thru the neighborhood and the wifey. I haven't noticed any difference as far as exhaust note between sport mode and non-sport mode.

Thanks USMC for the info (and thanks for your service as well, I come from a family of marines although I didn't have the honor myself). Would love to get your thoughts on the FVD once you get it installed. Bet you can't wait.

Can't wait for the new exhaust and I've worn out the FVD youtube videos. Will post some vids once I get everything setup.

Sport Chrono will not have any impact on the stock muffler sound, so you should not notice any difference since you don't have PSE. If you did have PSE, Sport Chrono in "sport mode" would turn the PSE to loud mode.

My Porsche tech recommended Tubi over PSE.

Since he walks on water with me that's what I decided to go with! I had the same noise considerations as you plus I'm probably 100 years older!;

I have 2012 GTS which comes with sport exhaust. I used the Sharkwerks 3rd muffler elimination pipes and now normal mode sounds pretty much like the way it sounded with the sport exhaust turned on. I think you'd be satisfied with the sound by simply eliminating that 3rd muffler and you'd save yourself a couple thousand dollars.
