I am looking to update the software and maps on my PCM 2.1 Nav radio... to date, there seems to be only a 2010 update... Does anyone know if Porsche plans to release a later update?

I'd hate to drop some cash on a 2010 update only to find out a month or two later that a new version is being released.

I looked at Navteq site to see if possibly they had something for VW (http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...thAmerica-Site ) as a possibility of using in Porsche OEM NAV system. In theory as long as the map data is in the same file format it SHOULD work...but I don't have enough information to take my theory further...

Did you look a the techquipment site on the Porsche website? You cold also ask the part dept at the dealer.

As far as the Navteq thing goes, that might not be a bad idea... but is not the PCM 2.1 made by Becker?

I checked Porsche Tech Equip site and they only listed 2010 map update which is what I already have. Suncoast said he typical see's Porsche release an update every two years but that was speculation.

As for PCM manufacture. I would think the actual NAV DVD module (mine is in FRUNK) is more relavant as it's doing the "reading" of map dvd. I wish I knew someone that owned a VW that has Nav I could test my threory out with.

I have a 2005 C2 Cab that was manufactured in March of 2005. How can I determine which version of the PCM that I have? If it is 2.1, I understand that there will be no more new DVDs for that model.

Turn on the radio, and then push the "MAIN" and "TRIP" buttons simultaneously. It will bring up the menu

I've been waiting for the new version to come and then I'll drop the $300. Seems like I read somewhere that Porsche doesn't plan to come out with a newer version for these 997.1 cars.

I tried calling a few Porsche dealers and they have no idea. Can anyone confirm if there will or will not be a post 2010 update?

I contacted some more dealers today, and I got mixed answers. Some told me that the 2010 release was final, and some told me that they are expecting a new release. Ugh... I hate incompetence! I wish I could just get a straight answer.
