Hey guys

Here's the story ;

I have a 2005 trip. carrera s and i installed Awe Mufflers couple of months ago. When i push the car hard in sport mode , it starts sounding like a truck in idle. I can understand the exhaust sound getting louder due to heat etc..

But it also starts making a mechanical sound coming under the car like a clock ticking. That sound gets more when i rev the engine in neutral.

No cel or whatsoever. What might be the reason ? time for 200 cel cats or something else ?

I had a similar problem on my Mercedes when the baffling inside the catalytic converter separated and started shaking around. It functioned fine but made so much noise that I had to replace it.

 

CATs on our old 540i did that as well. Had to replace them.

 

bingo. happened on my audi S6, as well. time for 200 cell cats.

Cool. I have FVD 200 cats, muffler, tips, and headers with long pipes in route. Wish I had a legitimate reason to replace like you... would make it easier to explain to my wife(the family accountant) my latest need to mod.
