Default Q for Carrera GTS owners

I was planning to get a Carrera GT. But then I saw there's a Carrera GTS. Is the Carrera GTS a noticeable improvement over the Carrera GT?

Really?

Do a google search on "Carrera GT" and you'll find a 10-cylinder, carbon fiber beast of a super car. An F1 race car for the street.

A Carrera GTS, on the other hand, is a righteous version of the 997 with extra power, wide body rear, etc.

If a seller told me I have to pay for the price of a Carrera GTS, but they can only give me a Carrera GT without the "S". Damn! Life is GOOD!

But but but:
Boxster < Boxster S
Carrera < Carrera S
Carrera 4 < Carrear 4S
Turbo < Turbo S
Panamera < Panamera S
Cayenne < Cayenne S
Carrera GT < Carrera GTS?

Actually, I can't afford a Carrera GT. I can't afford a Probe GT. I just thought Porsche stepped on its own ****** with the Carrera GTS name. And I was hoping a GTS owner (gorgeous cars by the way, no disrespect) would creatively explain why that overgrown Boxster was inferior. Such as:
1: Back seats!
2: Only rear engined Porsches are real Porsches.
3: Wooden shifter prone to termites.
4: Carrera GTs raced: 0. Carreras raced: Uber.

It'd be interesting to see a GT and a GTS go at it on the track. You may be surprised!

FWIW, Walter Rohrl ran a Carrera GT at the Nurburgring in 2004 in 7:28. Various GT2/3 RS variants have run in the 7:30's and low 7:40's. I'd expect a GTS to maybe run in the high 7:40's with the right options (a 2009 Carrera S with PDK, PCBB's and Sport Cups ran 7:50).

LewisB, Carrera S vs GTS on the track is not that much of a difference....trust me I know (Sebring, Daytona, Homestead) went from 09 C2S with PDK and Sport PASM to GTS with PDK and Sport PASM....23hp with same torque doesn't make up much time.

My point was the GT is 8 year old technology. Further, every time one of them comes for sale the mileage is still way below break-in. These cars sit there....not being driven to potential..and when they are, unfortunately, a fair number are crashed with a sad loss of life. The GTS is driven by its owners. The GTS has fancy stuff that lets you push the car harder. An moderately experienced driver (not the P-car race drivers who put the times up for bragging) would probably take a GTS as fast as a GT. He'd feel safe in the GTS...scared and timid in the GT.

I thought you were talking strictly about the car's capabilities. If you factor in the driver and the fact that most may not be comfortable managing over 600HP then you have a point.
