Scary
They are awful easy to confuse, in particlar in dark when you can't see the pedals very well
How often you see the drivers looking at shifter as they shift, looking at signal light switch as they attempt to activete them, I can go on and on ....
Long ago, there was a program on German TV dealing with young kids, barely 18 y.o. getting their motorbike licenses and buying +350 km/h motorbikes as their first rides.
Equally scary.

Don't worry, Porsche is working on a fix for this! Latest Excellence has a big article on Porsche developing robot cruise control technology that means you man never actually have to touch the gas/brakes. Seems like it would make more sense for Toyota to be developing, though; I mean, if you can't fix Prius drivers, maybe you can take them out of the equation altogether?

A similar incident occurred at Valley Motors in MD about 8 years ago. Some woman took a new $90K MB out for a test drive at about 4:30 on a week day afternoon. She also confused the brake and gas pedals and accelerated across five lanes on York road, and didn't come to a stop until she jumped a curb and ran right into a restaurant. How she made it across the five lanes of traffic during the rush hour without hitting any car is more amazing than confusing the gas and brake pedals. It wouldn't surprise me if she sued MB for unintended acceleration or some other bizarre charge.
