Don't know the answer to your first question but, yes, they came in the 996s, 997.1s and 997.2s. The 996 X51 also came for the 3.4L but not in the USA.

No one really knows the numbers of X51 sales against the normal 997 production--except Porsche. I would suggest that the number is fairly low because it was not seen as a great bargain. For about $26,000 you got a bump up from 355 to 381 HP with the 997.1 cars. Do the math. Most of us did.

Dan, the Power Kit on the 997.2 is/was $16,900, not $26,000.

i would also have passed on the x-51 if i were speccing(sp?) a new 997, though if i could afford to buy a 997 new, maybe i could also afford that along with upwards of 6 beootiful natural brown hides, and PCCB's, and, well, at some point you're in a bentley.... nahh, got the best here and now and so very happy to have the x-51 at filene's...
