Default Rough Day at Blackrock!!!

What a day I had!

I'm driving to my job today teaching a Presentation Skills Workshop and enjoying the start of a gorgeous day in NJ and then things began to go South.

I'm on Rt. 80 West and the traffic slows to a stop and I see a lot of smoke on the side and around my car and I'm thinking what jackasses car is smoking and lo and behold it's mine!

So I pull over and see all this smoke and it looks like it's coming from the radiator and there's some dripping underneath the car. I call a tow truck, my stepdaughter and get to the Workshop an hour late. It took the tow driver more than an hour to get there (always fun).

Come to find out that my condenser was struck by a rock and punctured. I also left my glasses in the car so I had to teach the class without my glasses which is very challenging as I can't see a GD thing without them!!!

10 hours later and $1,300 later i ended my day....tomorrrow has to be better right?

At least I didn't get rear ended by a Chevy Tahoe.....been there done that so I know first hand it could have been worse!

Still smiling as the tech fixed it (replaced) and I have her back tonight.

Time for some grille screens.

You experienced my big fear. Stuck in the middle of no where with a hole in a radiator/condenser.

Gee, thanks! Now, in addition to the nagging fear of getting a flat I can add a hole in the radiator as well. I suppose I should stow a can of the radiator plug crap next to the tire goop (for all the good either will do)!

P.S. Ecostellodo, you're the filling to a turquoise blue sandwich, which is probably not a very common ocurrence!

Screen door grille material from lowes cut down to fit the radiator openings.

The why is I over worry (ie, read too much here :-)

Forgot to mention, before I put the grilles on, I had put "blue" A/C filters in the openings. Again, mainly to protect the radiator/condenser. No noticeable increase in oil or water temp on my drive from Oklahoma to Colorado.

Although more expensive than the Home Depot solution, the Zunsport grilles I installed recently are probably much easier to install:
