You know someone's going to bring up ims, and it is something to factor into your decision.
Reputable aftermarket warranty companies may not cover this car due to mileage so you might as well get a lower mileage one afte considering cost to get coverage.

thanks for the reply. Yes, definitely have researched the IMS issue. My understanding is that 06 MY had improved larger bearing but you can't do a retrofit w/o removing engine unlike the 05 MY. I've done a lot of reading and it seems that the IMS issue isn't necessarily tied to high mileage and can happen to cars with low miles as well. Maybe more tied to service and type of driving. Getting PPI done and definitely will get DME report checking engine hours and over revs. Seems like only way to completely avoid IMS issue is get an 09MY.

Other cost factors to consider or use to negotiate the price down further are the maintenance items due for replacement at 96K miles Major Inspection point:
1. Replace spark plugs... some p-dealers will ask $1000+ to replace. Parts = $60
2. Inspect or replace ignition coils... get these replace with plugs. Parts = $240
3. Inspect/replace brake lines... Parts = $100 for SS lines
4. Change oil/filter... Parts = $75
5. Change cabin filter... Parts = $25
Recommended service items to consider:
1. Flush coolant... Parts = $240
2. Flush brake fluid... Parts = $20-$40
If you DIY then the cost of parts are minor... less than a $1K. If you have the p-dealer perform all of this... well that will be in the thousands so a cost factor to consider in your negotiations. Also find out what the p-dealer will charge you for the 96K Major Inspection. BTW, the price estimates for the parts above are typically from Pelican parts or Suncoastparts in some cases. Your local p-dealer will typically charge more.
At $35K with a clean PPI and some sweat equity I'd consider this a great value and car project to take on. GLW the search/purchase.
