Default Alignment; reset steering sensor?

I was thinking about taking my 2011 997.2 C2S to an indie for an alignment. A Porsche tech I was talking to said that after any suspension mods, or after an alignment, that the steering angle sensor needs to be reset, which requires the Porsche PIWIS computer. I don't think that too many indies are going to have a PIWIS.
Anybody can confirm this?

I doubt this would be necessary as long as they clamp the steering wheel in dead centre position before the alignment. Any decent alignment garage should do this otherwise you'll end up with a crooked steering wheel which will annoy the hell out of you.

It's in the service manual -- reset the steering angle sensor.

Except, the steering wheel could be re-positioned on the spline without dealing with the sensor issue.
