Default Exhaust and Cell Cats ?

Hey guys -

So i am getting the fabspeed cell cats x-pipe installed next Friday and was initially going to put stock exhaust back on but now i am thinking of just going for it and having them add the borla mufflers as well. Thoughts?

2006 997s - dual purpose track and DD. I like a good sounding exhaust but dont want anything too loud. FYI - used to have an 03 M5 with muffler delete and it was loud but not completely over-the-top...

Thoughts?

That is the combo I have on my car.
Love the sound. I do not consider it overly loud or annoying.

Also considering the Fabspeed x-pipe with sport cats. Why not consider Fabspeed's Maxflo mufflers? If it were currently in the budget, I drop the money on their equal length headers, Maxflo mufflers and the street x-pipe. Let us know your impressions afterwards.

I am getting quoted a pretty good price with installation of cell cats, muffler and tips from fabspeed....leaning that way over separately doing borla later

I've got a 996 so it's not identical to yours but the engines are very similar.

In any case I have the Fabspeed x-pipe cats and Porsche sport exhaust. When cruising the exhaust is a bit louder but not very intrusive. Upon hard acceleration however it is quite noticeable and everyone turns around to see what is coming down the street. I love the exhaust sound but if you are concerned about it being loud you may want to hear a similar setup on a vehicle before proceeding.

One of the other guys on the 996 board though changed just his cats and kept the stock exhaust. In his case he said it became more aggressive but not overly loud. So consider your tolerance for increased volume before committing to the performance muffler setup.

Does Borla have any dyno results on their Porsche mufflers? Curious
