Default Anyone try 3M Adhesive Remover on the Dash?

Previous owner had an after market satellite radio antenna mounted to the dash with some sort of adhesive. I've read 3M Adhesive Remover gets the job done. Before I try this I wanted to see if anyone else has tried this for removing adhesive from the (not leather) dash?

Here 's a link to the product:
Amazon Amazon
It says that it is safe on vinyl.

Thanks
Jason

Thanks for the reply. What sounds crazy about it - just curious? It seems like it's made for this exact purpose. Ligher fluid is safer?

When I removed the decals from my visors I used 90% isopropyl alcohol to loosen the adhesive and then did use the the 3M product. You might want to test on a small area - visors are a lot less expensive to replace if damaged than a dashboard. Let us know how it works out.

use it sparingly. you may have to go over the whole dash to make the spot look less centralized and fade into the rest of the dash. after you use it put on some leather conditioner over the whole dash to blend the color back in

What about Goo-Gone? It comes in a gel that sticks pretty well.

My dash is not leather - it's the standard vinyl (?) dash.

I was considering this too but I wasn't sure if it would be safe to use on the dashboard as it says do not use on rubber. The dash is not rubber but the surface feels rubberized. Have you used this product on the dash or other similar internal surfaces before?

I think goo gone is the better choice. It works well and is milder than the 3m. 3m will strip the oils out of the vinyl. Check compatability in an inconspicuos place.

Goo Gone worked like a charm. The mount was actually on the plastic near the window and not on the dash itself. Thanks for the tips!

No dispute, but as a data point . . . On an M3 with the same/similar dash as a 911 I accidentally got white latex paint on it's dash (wet sample on top of can got on the sleeve of my fleece and the sleeve smeared it on the dash and e. brake handle). I didn't notice until almost home and paint had hardened in the patina. Used mineral spirits, a toothbrush and soap and water and was able to work out the paint. If you didn't know to look, you would not have noticed the slight discoloration - which the sun faded in about two or three months.

I would never have used a solvent (even a mild one like mineral spirits) if I thought I had a choice, but not having a choice, I was lucky and things worked out perfectly.
