Default Your opinions on HRE Vintage 501s

Hi Guys,

I'm just considering some wheels for the summer so I can use my OEM wheels and dedicate those to my snows and was wondering your opinion of these (I couldn't figure out how to get a pic to my photo bucket so that's why I don't have one here.)

I could only find one thread on these wheels and they didn't seem to popular but I like em'.

Any thoughts? I'm considering charcoal with polished face.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Are these the ones? Not bad but would not be my first choice. If you like them that is all that is important. Wheels are very subjective ....

All the best,

Tom

I like 'em but the proportions are a little wierd in the modern sizes. the charcoal center is a great idea because it hides the brake dust.

It reminds me of every OE wheel we all tried to jettison off of our BMWs in the 90s.

Tommy,

I guess just a little too vintage for a 997... Doesn't match for me. I prefer a 'full face' wheel style like the P43 or P40SC. They tend to look big, modern, and fit the 997 perfect. I know many people like the polished lip style. For that direction what about Fuchs? HRE makes a great wheel though.

All the best,

Tommy

Thanks Tom.....all these wheels seem so similar.....so common......like everybody's got one of them.....I don't know....the vintage 501s are certainly different.

If you were going to order them for my car which finish would you go for?:

I'm halfway thinking of silver either gloss or satin!

Thanks,

Tom

Finally........someone who sees it the way I do!!! I know how subjective wheels are though. Thank you.

I think they look super duper on the 991....so many cool pics. I'm going to PM you for the info and call your contact as soon as I make up my mind.......so kind and generous....thank you!!!

Which color would you get? You won't believe it but I am considering either bronze or gold (God, gold! and I'm usually fairly conservative despite the Turquoise Blue car!!)

Absolutely not! Maybe on a 90s M3, but NOT for 997.

on white car i wanted the super flake gold (super retro)

your car has so many colors going on i feel a shade of black would be best bet.. golds might clash with the interior... a satin finish might look good with the soft top... like a satin gunmetal... matte being too flat,

Thanks for the feedback....I love the gold and white.....I love the gold too! Still noodling! I sent you a PM to contact the wheel place as well. Never considered black????? I was also thinking silver might be subtle!

Thanks so much!!
