Default Got a 2006 997S Fidelity Ext Warranty Gold Plus for $3500 (for those who care)

Please refrain from telling me this warranty is useless. This is not that kind of thread.

It's for people who are shopping an extended warranty. And I'm just relating my quest for one.

I called a bunch of places (Easy Care, Warranty Direct, Fidelity, etc.). My goal was 4 years of warranty for around $3500. The cheapest quote with the most coverage came from DownTown LA Porsche.

They treated me very well and did a free 1 hour inspection to clear the car. It came down to $3540 for a Gold Plus (ENGINE, TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE/TRANSFER CASE, DRIVE AXLE, STEERING, BRAKES, AIR CONDITIONING, SUSPENSION,
ELECTRICAL (not everything), COOLING, FUEL) Fidelity Ext. Warranty. The car had no warranty on it and is a 2006 997S with about 40K on the ODO.

What is exactly is Gold Plus?

Hope this helps the extended warranty searching P-owners...

The quotes were really ALL over the place. Even a ridiculous $9000 for fairly basic coverage 2 year coverage! Also different dealerships gave me very different quotes for the same Fidelity warranty. For example MotorVillage LA quoted me a much higher amount for the coverage I got at Porsche Downtown LA (which is literally across the street). It's was like 2 grand higher.

Thanks for the post. I have CPO on my '07, so I wonder if they'd do a supplement to pick up after CPO ends...

Get it before it ends. That will make it cheaper.

Have you canvassed non Porsche dealers for Fidelity. Some Rennlister posted that he bought his from a non Porsche dealer not too long ago, if I'm not mistaken... Could it have been cheaper?

I purchased my Fidelity Platinum policy at a Honda dealership. Does not make a difference where you buy it. Shop around for the best price. My suggestion is to call the Fidelity Warranty Services customer service and ask them for 5+ dealers in your area that sell their products, Porsche and non Porsche dealers. Then stop by and look the F&I manager in the eye and try to get your best price. End of month is helpful!

Looked at other dealerships. Porsche was the cheapest.

Just got an extended warranty from Century on my 07 C4S with 14k on the odo. $3,900 for 6 years/60,000 miles ($250 deductible) through Costco. 10% down and 18 months interest free in installments of about 200/month

Seems like a great price. What's your deductible? I'm considering the same thing. Did you get a quote for Platinum coverage? They are trying to talk me into that. Thanks.

Call Fidelity direct and get as many in-state sources that sell their product. Among Porsche, VW/Audi, Hertz and Volvo I ended up purchasing at a Kia dealer -
Platinum/5YR/60K/$250 = $2750. 10% down, 12 interest free payments.
Next lowest quote - $3685, with a high of $4200!

Plus, if you're so inclined, don't hesitate to negotiate. These products have substantial markup and they're easy money for dealers. And it's FAR cheaper to purchase BEFORE your factory warranty expires. Not sure if CPOs apply but I would assume they would?

A main concern with Fidelity is the over-heating clause. Warranty Direct doesn't have it but their's was $1400 more and non-negotiable. I've had a WD warranty on my SUV and had a $1200 differential replaced without any issues. The warranty cost was $900/$100 deductible so with four days car rental I'm about $250 ahead!
