Porsche search - Oh my did I get off course

I did the exact same thing back in 2007. Started with a test drive on an 85. Then a 95. Then a 99 and a 2002. All were going to be a second car. Ultimately I bought a 1.5 year old 2005, traded my BMW and made the Porsche my daily driver. Great decision. Now, 5 years later it is my second car and I love it. Pampered by me for 5 years, modern and comfortable with great performance. It is a keeper.

8 months ago I was looking at 2008 (997.1) and 2009 (997.2) C2S cars. Found the 2010 in my signature pic for a couple of thouand more than any 2009 cars I saw. 2,945 miles, 3 years remianing on factory warraty PLUS 2 additional years CPO warranty. SWEET!

God this is so close to what I lived a year ago.... ; ) I finally went with a nicer "older" car and stopped on a mint / one owner / CPO / 10k / 06 C2 with basic options including Bose sound system and Nav package... So I went from around 30K search to a 65k result. The car was basically shrink wrapped for 4 years so feels totally new to me.

Ha! I am in that process now as I shop. I was looking for a '99, then a '02, then an '04 C4S, and now thinking an '06. Too funny. Still spending time on the 996 board just in case but liking the 997 too.

For me, as I started creeping toward newer cars, then slightly older turbo and GT variants became within range. I almost pulled the trigger on an 07 turbo with 40k miles but not CPO before I found my 08 C4S CPO'd. Looked at a couple GT3's with moderate mileage as well. Such a fun process!!

Well , at least I dont feel so alone anymore. just wondering how much longer finding my dream car will take.
I know that killer deal everyone else seems to post about will never happen to me though

Gary Player (the world champ golfer) used to say the more you practice the luckier you get! So go Practise! ie copious test drives, stay glued to eBay, craigs and the rest inc RL ofcouse - or set an aggregator to bring you every P ad in your price range - and see how it goes

Not only you're not alone, but we suggest you have fun with it, too. Shopping for one should be part of the fun. Believe me (us). Listen to what everyone is saying-- "blew the budget, but no regrets." You will have regrets, however, if you don't practice patience and buy something less than satisfying. How many times we bought "less", only to regret it, sell it for less than it's worth, and proceed with buying what we should have bought in the first place. If I recall all my regrets of the past, those would be it. I too bought overbudget-- and, yup, "no regrets!"
As a sidenote, my brother budgeted 120k for a mint 360 Modena and blew past 185k for a F430 F1 Spider. And, yup, you guessed it, "no regrets, too!"

I drove 6 hrs to see this car, looked great 2K miles, but was too expensive.
Reverse psychology.......I beleive the car choose me....eventually.
It just seemed to happen, bit of a blindside, but the right feeling was there.
Thats it !

One thing I did decide is that if its a 997.1 its gotta be an S. though the 997.2 base is good enough. I figure its probably going to be the one and only 911 for quite a while so I'll hold out for at least that
Funny thing is I had no problems paying the entire college costs for 2 kids but I am watching my pennies for my own toy. Amazing how that works.
