Are you already trying to sell it? I saw your car on Craigslist:

Holy crap!

LOL. He must have bought it to flip it and make a profit, not to keep for himself?

Two clues as to why

1. "I fear of IMS failure everyday." from original post

2. OP User name is CivicRydr so not really a Porsche guy I guess.

To help you with IMS fears. The engines were changed in about January of '05 to the newer style that has had essentially no failures. If you will look at your engine number, you can tell immediately if you are at risk, or you are worry free. The engine number is on the engine block on the drivers side. Just lay on your back with a flashlight and look for the number that if marked. All 2005 S models start with the letters M97 685, then a string of numbers that is the individual engine number. Then to quote an older but well researched thread:
"To determine if your M97 engine has the improved IMS, you will need to check your engine number.
if the engine number is 68509790 and below, unfortunately it still has the smaller removable IMS bearing.
if the engine number is 68509791 and above, it will have the new large single row IMS. The IMS cover also has the 22mm nut.";

So, if the last 5 numbers in your engine number is 09791 or higher, you have no worries.

Just saw your picture of the certificate. Your engine was made after the change to new IMS so you don't have to worry about IMS failure.

Wow, great write-up and pictures. I've got to say, something about the lighting makes your paint jump in a good way. Nicely done!

And that's a heck of a lot of car for $30k. Like the yellow belts.
