I was driving this weekend and I got stuck Ina big rain storm. I turned my blades to hyper mode, next thing you know the right blade stops working, like it almost broke of its track? This is ridiculious that something like this even happened! Is this the quality we expect in these cars?
That's a first for me to hear of such a thing. Did the wiper ever come off for servicing lately? I can only think that it was taken off for something (did you replace a windshield recently?) and then not put back on properly. These things a have a press fit, and then secured by a nut.
It was the strangest thing ever happen to me. I though these things were tested in even the roughest conditions? It seems like the motor does work.its just gotten the track. It will move the wiper when I put the wiper in the upright position but not when it is on the glass. Any suggestions, should I jusy bring it in?
You may have wear on the wiper arm only. Put your finger at the base of the wiper arm to see if you can feel the movement of the motor in action.
Maybe the drive mechanism has come loose. Most cars I've seen have one wiper motor that services both wipers. If one wiper is working, that means the motor is working and the linkage to the motor from the other wiper is defective somewhere.
Remove the defective wiper arm and see if things are turning when the other wiper works.
I removed the wiper mechanism from my 2000 Boxster S to replace my heater core (got a maple smell in the cabin, the core was leaking)... and I remember being impressed with the heavy-duty nature of the mechanism... and it was heavy. As others suggested, pop the cap and remove the nut.... then pull the arm off.... the post is knurled so ensure it isn't stripped or the arm socket is stripped.
