Hot air exit for center radiator.

Comes standard on GT3s.

factory double smile option... know to induce a multitude of driver side grins. Airflow for 3rd radiator is the real answer.

You can buy a kit from Rennline I think, to install that vent on a non-vented bumper (you get the OEM vent, a template to assist cutting out the slot, and a mounting hardware kit to compensate for the lack of mounting points in the bumper cover for the vent, in bumper covers that are not designed for it.

Its an option I'd definitely do if I didn't have a blocky US license plate on the front.. which already breaks up the solid color of the nose quite well.

for those of us with a center radiator with the hood vent (tip/pdk/X-51), is this a worthwhile addition?

Just opening up the hood with a kit from some after market place is not the answer to this...the whole front section on a GT3 has the radiator angled not only to vent out hot air but to make a low pressure over the hood for more down force.

The center radiator on my 09 CS2 was angled down. The bumper cover had lines on the bottom to use as a template to cut openings to vent the hot air. I saw one installed on an 07 and the lines were not on the cover but a template was supplied.

Te GT3 as mdrums noted is completely different.

You would have to change a lot of hardware inside the front to do that. For example, your from bumper (nose) has been opened up with ducts to let the air out. If you add that you will have to redirect the air upward.

Think you mean High Pressure over the hood, for more down force. If indeed it actually does change the pressure over the hood much at all. I'm a little skeptical about that little factoid. I guess more air flow is directed directly over the hood in an orderly fashion, so maybe.

The mod of an existing non-vented bumper cover is only to provide the cosmetic benefits that the vent provides.

Air moving faster over the hood than under the hood will result in a higher pressure under the hood than over the hood, basic fluid mechanics. Thats one reason why the hood latch has a safety catch.

The angle of attack of the air flow relative to the surface of the hood would result in a downward force.

The balance of those 2 things will result in a net upward or downward force at speed.

Yes high pressure...thanks for the correction! Seriously though...on the GT3 race cars (which this has transfered to the street car) this not only vents hot air out but is a aero advantage creating more front downforce at high speeds.
