Default Warranty Question

I am looking at buying a 2006 C2S and the current owner says it has 3 years left and up to 100K miles on the factory warranty. I thought CPO warranties were only 2 years 50K miles? I questioned it and he said it was a Porsche warranty not an aftermarket warranty. He said bumper to bumper with no deductible...has anyone heard of this? I was thinking about checking with my local dealer and giving them the VIN...would they be able to tell?

thanks,

Mark

I think it's mathematically impossible. CPO last 2 years in addition to original warranty if the car was certified while still under original or 2 years from the moment is CPO. So in the first case will expire this year for a 2006 or will have 2 more years if it was certified today.

I agree...he described the warranty as if it were a CPO...came with the car when he bought it used from a dealer... but I think he said it was originally 5 years and he has had it for 2 years...so he says it has 3 years left?

Yuor local Porsche dealer should be able to tell you if it is CPO or not if you have the VIN.

When I purchased a car last year I had the local dealer confirm the in service date and amount of remaining warranty.

Here's what Porsche says:

Porsche Approved Certified Pre-owned Limited Warranty covers up to 6 years, or a cumulative 100,000 miles, from the original in-service date (whichever occurs first), if the vehicle is still under the new car limited warranty at the time of purchase.

So I guess if the in service date was in 2007 and the CPO was issued before 2011 then CPO coverage could go out to 2013. As others have said, the in service date and warranty end date associated with the VIN so dealer can tell you.
