Default Ruf Replica Gray Metallic Wheels

I posted this on another forum and thought I'd do the same here. My modding commences after nearly a year after buying this car. I'll be posting actual pictures of the wheels on the car.

I scored a new set of Ruf replicas in gray metallic last week from Ray at ROTtec. I've searched for something unique, although I know how some might feel about any replica even though wheel designs are at some point are a "replica" of someone else's design (so much for rationalization).

The wheels are heavy, but then I'm not going to use the wheels for tracking. I have my 18" wheels/tires for that.

In any case, the setup is based on the Turbo/C4 offsets. I've searched and found some who felt it wouldn't work because it's overly aggressive, but I've not found that to be the case as several are running the same offset on the NB.

I plan on running the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO K110 in 305/30 ZR19 (r), and 235/35 ZR19. I'm informed the tire design is angled as opposed to squared as with the PS2 and the like. I used to run PS2 on my M3 and liked them. The "Ventus" has received excellent reviews on TireRack.

The wheels arrive tomorrow. The car is in the shop having rock chip repairs, new windshield (pitted and annoying), and generally getting a makeover. It'll be mid-April before she's out of the shop.

I'll be lowering the car on H&R springs. I had also purchased a set of H&R street coilovers (both sets new), but decided to return them as I don't really think this car is all that drivable when lowered beyond the 1.25" drop provided by the springs without constant scraping. My M3 was slammed on KWv2 and I loved it, but it didn't have as long of a nose as the 997.

Here are the wheels. I think they're going to look terrific on black. I did a photoshop using another member's car to see what it would look like versus hyper silver or a black wheel - I love the contrast of gray metallic.

Agreed - photoshop hurts the eyes - removed. Real photos up soon.

Nice wheels but that short whip antenna on your roof will definitely add some drag and slow you down...

LOL. I'll have to wait for the TPC turbo for some relief.

Good choice, I think they will look great on your 997 too with that color contrast. Looking forward to the pics!

Agreed. Very nice. I'm interested in a second set and noticed ROTECs RUFs. If you'd be willing, please PM me your pricing for the set. I like the Gray Metallic...but those Hyper Silvers are slick too.

No worries on the weight of the wheel. RUF specifically uses heavy weighted rims to plant the car at high autobahn speeds designed for Porsche.

I had a set of those on my 993 and found them to be a high quality wheel at a very reasonable price. But man, that photoshop hurts my eyes

Thanks all. I agree about the photoshop so I removed it. As soon as the car is out of the body shop I'll post up pictures. The wheels arrive tomorrow and I'm going to have tires mounted Thursday. I'm hoping to have the car back by the end of next week. Time to order some more mods while I wait. Can't wait to have the H&R springs installed.

gonz911, would you be willing to PM me also on the pricing? Thanks in advance. I've been sitting on the fence on these and am glad to see someone chiming in with some experience.

Wheels came in today - nicely packaged - had to take them out. Tomorrow tire purchase. Regretfully no mount for another week until car's out of the shop.

Regrets on the poor iPhone photos.

Not yet. My car is in the shop getting a new windshield and a paint refresh to address rock chips paint (bumper, hood and front fenders). I'll have the car back Friday and then I'll mount the wheels/tire. The tires (Hankook Ventus V12 EVO K110) arrive tomorrow and I'm having them mounted.

The following week it goes to Porsche to have the H&R springs, Porsche Sport Mode Software installed, and regular service (oil, etc.).

I'll post pictures on Friday but it won't be lowered yet.
