Default using well water to wash car

I am looking at a newly constructed house in Chesapeake, VA that does not have city water. There is a 180 ft well that supplies the house. The hose bibs are supplied by water that has not yet entered the water softener. Can this water be used to wash the car without damaging the finish/metal parts, or, does a separate hose bib need to be fitted at a point in the line after it exits the softening system? Sampling the water reveals a very slight iron taste

My last house had well water, and I washed all my cars with it, without having the water go through the filteration system, and the cars were fine. My current home also has well water, and the water is run through the filteration system. I haven't noticed any difference between the two. I think it's fine.

If you have hard water, you'll see it after washing as the water spots will be horrible unless you completely dry afterwards. I guess it all depends on how **** you are.

you can use it as is, but I think it will leave spots etc over time. I would hook up a hose connection to a part of the house or garage to get softened water.

Our well water has a high mineral content and I've used it for 20 years to wash my cars. As others have said. although softened water is better, it works fine as long as you are diligent about wiping down the car quickly and thoroughly. Washing in the shade helps keep water from evaporating and leaving behind deposits.

We have a well and our water also has lots of iron. When we had the house built we had the plumber set it up so the hose bib near the garage is conditioned water and all the other hose bibs are unconditioned water.

If you wash your car with hard water and then let it evaporate dry, you will get serious mineral deposits that are difficult to buff out. And don't even think about washing your car in the sun on a hot day. I have washed my car with unconditioned well water many times and it is not a problem as long as you do it in the shade or on a cool day, and ALWAYS dry it off before it has a chance to evaporate.

Our water has no odor and tastes great. It's just the minerals that can be a problem. But I know that some well water can be pretty bad.

I use the CR spotless system that I bought from Costco.

Of course if you already have soft water, I would hook up an extra outdoor faucet and use that instead.

Water softener is good if you have hard water. You just need to make sure that your at least one of your outside faucets are hooded up to the softener be sometimes they bypass them. I don't then you need RO Water. RO for drinking only.

I wanted a CR Spotless system, but the costs associated with using it were too high.
IMHO of course
