Meteor Grey Vs. Atlas Grey... What's the diff?
What's the difference between these two colours? Anybody with either help me out? Thanks in advance...

My 2 cents...
In direct sun, atlas grey has a blue tinge, meteor grey has a tiny hint of beige/brown to it. In shade, I think atlas looks darker, closer to black. Meteor is grey. Atlas was also a more expensive option when originally purchased if i remember correctly. |
My wife's first Boxster was Atlas Grey. It is a dark, gunmetal gray metallic that can have a bluish tint in certain light and look almost black in low light. My C4S is Meteor Gray. It is a medium gray metallic with lighter flecks of color in the sun and is lighter overall in shade than Atlas Gray. Both are great colors, but I see more Meteor Gray Porsche's than Atlas Grey. It's hard to describe the difference without seeing them side by side, but they are quite different.

both answers true.
atlas grey is a lot darker than meteor. easily picked, whereas riviera and mexico blues are very close to each other and hard to distinguish in isolation. |
Here you go (they are night and day)

I actually think that Atlas Gray should really be called Atlas Blue. As stated above, it really does look almost midnight blue in bright sunshine. In overcast light, it can easily be confused with Basalt Black.
For example, attached are two pictures of my Atlas Gray 997. - Mike |
Tx guys. Excellent.

For some reason, I always see a bit of purple in Atlas in certain lights....

Joel, just get the silver red combo that you looked at recently and be done with it. Just kidding. Atlas grey is a phenomenol color. Gets my vote over Meteor Grey which is also a beautiful color.

Just took delivery of my first 911, a Meteor Gray C4S, last week. I really like the color, but I have to admit that I might have chosen the same car in Atlas if one had been available. This weekend I hope to get some great photos to show off on a new thread and see what everyone thinks about it.

One great thing about Meteor - second only to silver in my experience - is that it doesn't rapidly appear dirty with dust, water spots, etc. Darker colors like Atlas are much higher-maintenance to keep the appearance of cleanliness.

In my personal experience, meteor gray is faster

Both beautiful colors but my preference is Meteor.

Atlas for me!!

Below are some pictures of my Altas Grey.
Atlas Grey, as in other Porsche special (or specially expensive) colors, has a complex depth in the color that shows different tones under different lights. It has a mesmerizing effect to the eyes especially under different bright lights -- sometimes it is black, sometimes it is grey, sometimes with blue, sometimes with purple. The only problem is that the effect of this color, again with other Porsche special colors, is hard to be captured in pictures. It needs to be viewed in person, under different lights, to be appreciated. When I got my Atlas Grey, I had my doubt of its extra $3,600 (I don't remember the exact price) cost. Yet after I owned the car, I liked it and would do it again. With best regards, (P.S. In the pictures below, note that the color appears differently in different pictures/lights. Sometimes even I cannot believe all these colors are my very same car.) Attachment 1208189 Attachment 1208190 Attachment 1208191 Attachment 1208192 Attachment 1208193 Attachment 1208194 |
