I'm looking to buy an "S Cab". I want to spend around $50K. Besides being newer, is there any reason to consider '07 and '08's over '05s and 06s?
2nd question...I've seen an '05 S Cab listed at $52K with CPO (for another year or so)...I like the color/options but it seems like a lot for an '05. 30K miles...what's a fair price?
any thoughts?
thanks,
Mark

You will hear a lot of noise about the IMS issues. Some prefer 2005 because you can do the LN upgrade, some prefer 2006-2008 because you get the upgraded Porsche solution (though you lose the ability to do an LN). It's an unlikely issue in either case and shouldn't be a big factor.
(Edit: Ignore the next part; OP is looking for an S, not a 4S...)

But, and please correct me if I'm off my rocker here, isn't the 2005 S Cab still a 996 (albeit with some upgraded features)?

My 05 Cab has been great, and very reliable. $50k seems high for an 05. But with CPO and low miles, it is probably worth mid 40's. Make 'em an offer.
