2011 GTS Misfires and Stalls
My 2011 GTS had a "random misfire" CEL a couple of months ago. The CEL and "Visit workshop soon" OBC message were on only a few seconds and then disappeared. The engine had stumbled once at ~78 mph after traveling approx 45 minutes, so engine was warm. After checking with the dealer, I resumed my 300 mile trip and no recurrences until.....
Yesterday, a more serious set of messages and problems. This after warming the car ~15 minutes before entering the freeway. First, a couple of momentary minor stumbles (sort of a shudder, like passing over a lane divider dot), then a couple of bigger ones. Definitely worse when accelerating especially when over 70 mph. The CEL and "Visit Workshop Soon" messages came on temporarily; though for a longer period than before.
So I canceled my trip mission and decided to head home (~8-10 miles), on non-freeway roads and never exceeding 50 mph. A couple more minor stumbles and then, while traveling a steady 45 mph, the engine dies and all dash lights come on. Fortunately, I was able to pull off the road without incident and stop. The engine restarted easily and I now have the "I" OBC Information light (though I did not know its meaning or how to check) in addition to the other two indications. I resume my route home (another three miles), never exceeding 35 mph, and the engine died once more perhaps a 1/2 mile later at ~30 mph. It again restarted easily. I drove slowly and as smoothly as possible the last 2.5 miles and made it home without additional problems. The CEL and other dash displays were now permanent until I shut the engine off upon reaching home. FWIW, the gas cap is tight.
This was on a Saturday PM, so no chance of reaching my dealership until Monday AM. Any thoughts or ideas are welcome. I am going to have them send a flat bed to pick up the car; it's not safe to drive to their location 30 miles away through city freeway traffic.

It looks like you got a lemon.
Seriously, you are doing the right thing, having it taken in. Don't take chances with something as unreliable as that.
The only thing I can think of is the high pressure fuel pump.

You are probably aware of the fuel pump recall last year. Porsche put a new one on my 09 C2S. I hadn't had any problems it was just replaced. As I recall it was for a batch of pumps made in a certain time frame.
I'd guess a new pump and you'll be on your way.

TxBob74, out of curiosity what was your build date?
Alan, does the fuel pump recall apply to our GTS'? BTW Alan, your black GTS is blacker then black as its the blackest of them all... just in case you were wondering.

Build date is Feb 2011, IIRC. With that date, I understood that the HPFP issue had been resolved.
Add'l info; always use Chevron or Shell 93 Octane, tank is currently 1/4 full. The car is not a daily driver, but I usually drive it 1-2 days per week and fill up every 6-8 weeks.

Jealous of your 93 octane, we in Cali can only get 91 at the pump or racing fuel, I only use Chervon 91 octane.
my GTS is a weekend driver as well, with similar usage scenario to yours. Please keep us posted on what you find out is wrong with your GTS!
good luck!

My 2012 GTS had a build date of 4/11 and was covered by the HPFP Recall Campaign. The ordering dealer replaced the pump prior to my purchase through another dealer last August.
If you want to know if your car is included or if the work has been completed, have a dealer run your VIN.

1-800-PORSCHE will pick up the car tomorrow morning. Service manager believes HPFP is a valid theory, but says there are no recalls or advisories of any kind on my VIN.
Will advise as soon as I hear from the dealer (hopefully tomorrow).

I took my car to a local dealer (not the selling dealer 100 miles away) to have my Rennline Grill Guards installed. The service manager opened a file for my car in their system, and checked what history was reported from PCNA. Here he found that the HPFP recall had been performed by the originating dealer. He also printed out the history for me as a courtesy. He told me that his dealership had replaced just about every HPFP on all the Porsche models since the problem started. We had a Tech Day at the dealership and one of the mechanics had a cut open HPFP and explained what the problem was. I'm sorry I can't recall this detail. I have onset CRS (Can't Remember Sh#t). He told me that they also had problems with MB, Audi and VW - the other brands carried by this dealer.
