hey guys, in case it wasn't obvious, my original post was with tongue firmly in cheek. I'm indeed a newbie who purchased my first Porsche (a Black Edition) about five months ago.
I've owned BMWs for twenty years and started thinking Porsche about a year ago. A friend recommended Rennlist to get familiar with the brand so I quietly followed the board for months. My first (naive and foolish) impression was that you guys were a bunch of 911 geeks. Slowly dawned on me how knowledgeable you guys are and my respect grew. Then I bought my Porsche and it was like a when the world turns colorful in the Wizard of Oz. Haven't felt like this since I was 17 and bought a used 65 VW bug for $800. It's not so much the performance as it is the relationship. My Pcar and me are like best friends now. Just getting to know each other, but the start of a beautiful relationship.
Anyway, you guys are an awesome group. I love the infighting that goes on in the board but how you all manage to get along. And I now finally understand the devotion that you all display for the sanctity of the brand. I'm humbled.

The 991 black paint is not the same black paint as the 997 Black Edition. The black paint on the black Edition (and all 997s) is the same paint Porsche uses for its race cars (the raw and visceral ones), while the 991 black paint is a paint that the bean counters designed especially for the 991. That's why the 991 looks like an SUV from certain angles and has an artificial feel.

I like that man. I m also new in this forum. Mine 07 targa4 also black on black. and I also look at the 991 during the weekend. Think the inside of the 991 have too many chrome/silver bit, maybe only on the demo car. I m sure carbon will look much better. I still haven't test drive one yet, because it is new to Australia. But the main reason I bought Pcar is the steering feel really because I test drive my customer's 987 boxster S. That feeling change me completely. But I can't find that feeling in Caynene Turbo S when I service the 997. It just feel like a very refine SUV and I can't communicate with that.
