Positive Porsche Experiences vs. The Unfortunate!

2006 C4S manual with 16,300km from new and serviced annually. No problems at all until this morning when I started it I got the "Engine Problem, check at garage" warning. Stopped the engine, started it again and all well, until I opened the passenger window and it made a strange noise and dropped into the door, never to be seen again! I guess I'll be off to the OPC as soon as they open, with the temp 115 deg in the shade here in Bahrain it's no fun driving with an open window!

'06 C2S manual with 37k and 2 months to go on a CPO warranty. Only problem a blown amplifier that was covered under CPO. $400 for parts and labor. I had an after market warranty on my 996. That car had higher mileage and more issues. I probably broke even on the warranty. I think I will take risk this time. The 997 is much more dependable.

Since 2000 I've had 5 new Porsches. The only one to have any problems was the 2000 Boxster which needed to have the AOS replaced. Drive about 20,000 miles a year.

'05. Purchased in '09 with ~20,000 miles.
Done under CPO:
1. Replace exterior panel behind rear window due to rattle. Dealer found that one of the studs holding it in place was stripped, and speculated that Porsche likely employs auto workers from the former f E. Germany who continue in their time-honoured communist ways. Dealer stated the cost if not under CPO: $1800
2. Remove/replace sunroof due to numerous rattles and clapping. Did this thrice. It still rattles. Dealer stated the total cost if not CPO: $1200
3. Replace knackered key fob. Dealer stated the cost if not for CPO: $299
Done under my 6-year bumper-to-bumper warranty:
1. Replace faulty starter/battery cable. Dealer stated cost if not for warranty: $950.
2. Replace broken shifter cable. Dealer stated cost if not for warranty: $500
I still have four and one half years to go on the warranty, and it has already paid me a third of its original cost. Only a blithering fool would assert that a high-end German automobile like a Porsche, by the time it will have reached 12 years of age, will not have repaid me at least the entire cost of the warranty on these inevitable so-called "minor" repairs...whilst continuously protecting me against the less-likely but more catastrophic ones.

2004 Cayenne - Service at 18,000 mi (30,000 km) 5 times. Battery finally dead (because I left a hood light on for a week) after 8 years. Only issue was pre-emptive alum coolant pipes. Pretty hard to knock that dependability.

2006 C2S - 35000 miles. 2nd owner at 10,000 miles, warrenty replacement of pinched wiring harness, shocks, then nothing until 25000 miles when the flywheel sheered off. So a few odd things but nothing enough to lead me off to another brand. Love the car. And the exhaust sounds better the more you drive it!

Can you pm me the dealer info? Maybe I'll get in on the deal as well.
06 S Coupe and I've had a few issues. I bought CPO and had one radiator fan replaced, the water pump were replaced front strut was replaced. All covered under CPO which expired almost a yer ago and I've had a cracked coolant tank replaced out of warranty. That cost me around $700 if I remember correctly.
That being said, it's been worth every penny. Heck, even my Honda needs things from time to time. Honestly, I'm concerned about the ims issue but I figure either Porsche will step up to the plate, or I'll put in a new engine in and sell to move up to a 997.2.

09 997.2 S Coupe. Bought it with 4000 miles on the clock, now it has a little over 20K. When I first got the car I was getting maybe 700 miles before I'd have to add a quart of oil--which I thought was a bit much. Now it's over 1300 miles to add a quart, so I'm chalking that up to a subpar break-in on the first 4000.
Other than that, it's been just great.

I had a 2006 C2S that only repair was a battery replacement in 20k miles of use.
I now have a 2009 C2S that is on it's 3rd HPFP - the original, one replaced under the TSB, and another a couple weeks ago. The dealer claimed this was the first "series 2" HPFP they'd seen fail, and claimed it was installed improperly, since that dealer didn't do the repair work.
This has me worried, as I love this car and had planned to keep it beyond the factory warranty expiration...now I'm not sure I want the risk of ownership without a warranty of some sort.

07 C2S 17k miles, only issue to date is nagging front end rattle - have replaced upper strut mounts, drop links, bushings, but noise still there. Going in Monday for left front strut per dealer - I think it may be steering rack - open to thoughts. Other than that - been a great car. Car under CPO until Oct.

As for me, I will never fail to understand why people willingly toss tens of thousands of $ buying a ridiculous indulgence like a Porsche only to hand wring about maintenance costs and seek affirmation about chosen colour, etc..
WTF people? blow $100k on a set of wheels and think yourself prudent for buying an extended warranty or chosing the "correct" tone of black or grey?
Americia is undoubtedly the strangest place on the planet and in possession of the least creditable sense of value yet conceived. Keep on consuming - the world needs your support, now more than ever.

This is my first porsche 911S 2006. I've owned it for approx 6 months w/ no issues. Still a garage queen, and still on the honeymoon, I have only put approx 2000 miles on her, she currently has 20K for mileage.
So far so good My porsche buddies tell me to drive the "bitch"!
