Default Fitting WB wheels on NB

Hi guys,

so I have read a lot about this topic, and usually the first answer is: "No" - different offsets but others have said the rear wheels would be like having 16mm spacers which has been done (I guess 15mm is quite common)

So has anyone done it and can comment on it? I found my dream set of wheels for to much money overseas but I kinda want them.

1st answer -- NO !!!

Don't do it, wheels will be sticking out WAY to far.

Next question...

See if the vendor for your "dream set of wheels" can provide the correct offsets.

Should it be equivalent to 16mm spacers does it really stick out WAY to far if at all (I thought 15mm is flush)

Buy some 15-17mm spacers and try it first to see if you like the look. Much less expensive than buying the wheels from overseas and then finding out you don't like it.

Yes, the rears will be WAY out there. I've seen it. A friend bought the BBS-CHRs, they have a 56mm OS on the rears. He first installed the rears with his 5mm spacers still on the car. This set-up would exactly equal the 51mm OS of the WB wheels. It looked like some kind of low-rider chit. He removed the 5mm spacers and they STILL are sticking out there. The widest point of the tire is protruding about 10mm still, without the spacers.

If you like the low-rider look and maybe a little rubbing, go for the WB wheels.

thanks for that info, I certainly don't like that low-rider look

good idea, I will consider it

What does WB mean? What does NB mean?

Thanks.

Pretty sure that the wheels that came on my car are WB Turbo wheels, with Pirelli PZero Rosso 295/30-19. They don't look horrendous, but you can tell they're not exactly "fitted", either. The tires are just past flush with the fender. If you're willing to give up a bit of tire wear, I'd think a -2.5degree camber setting should make them look decent. But IMO, the offset is off by about 5mm from what I'd deem "perfect", aesthetically-speaking.

Turbo offsets work on the NB and fills in the wheel well very nicely. I'm going this route and checked with a vendor who routinely sells them. I've now seen pictures of GT3 with the same setup and running 305 in the rear - definitely not sticking out as described above.

I've seen it in person. They stick out. WAY out, to most owner's tastes me thinks.

But, it's your car and your money. Go for it! Hope you like the new look.

agree 100%. i put new OEM turbos on a 997.1 C2S i had and it looked like they were made for the car. filled wheel wells perfectly, but not too much. looked factory correct.

Well, according to Ray at RotTech Carbon:

Our wheels size and offset are same as OEM 997TT wheels, consider your have 7/14mm offset with your OEM 19” wheels on narrow body. They will not rub with lowering suspension but also fill out fender gaps much nicer.
19"x8.5" ET58
19"x11" ET52

Size is same as 997TT OEM wheels and they will fit follow models;
993 wide bodies
996 wide bodies
997 wide bodies
997 narrow bodies (aggressive offset without rub)
987 (boxster & cayman - 15mm spacers require at rear)
GT3 with 305 on rear - other pictures viewed do not show them sticking out beyond the fender as you stated.

Are you running 295 or 305? I'm thinking I may run the 305 setup. My only concern is whether I should then go up to a 245 up front. The GT3 in the picture has a 7mm spacer up front.
