Default Vaseline on wheels

Im sure i discussed this beffore and the post got comments like its for the old wheels. Now after reading the owners manual of my 997.2 it said to apply wheel wax of vaseline jelly ont the wheels every 3 months. Can you believe that?

Use RejeX Wax. Buy it from Bumperplugs.

The same recommendation appeared in my '84 Carrera manual for use on the forged Fuchs wheels. I tried it. After rubbing the vaseline in thoroughly and removing the residue the black centers on particular looked good. But the wheels obviously still had a slight greasiness to them which, while providing protection, made them dirt magnets. Went back to waxing.....

Meguiars has a new spray out for about $10 that covers the wheel and brake caliper keep the brake dust from building up. I put this stuff on last week and drove the car a few hundred spirited miles. After washing the car yesterday the I noticed that the stuff really works well. I highly recommend it.

Symbol do a Wheel Coat product that doesn't necessarily makes less dust stick but it washes off a breeze. No matter how blacked up sponge and water gets it off.

Vaseline works well with the black anodized finish that is seen in the Fuchs wheels of the '80s 911. My wife MINI convertible has a similar finish and I use vaseline every 6 months. Here is the before and after look. Agree with Mike that even when you really take off the vaseline, one cannot avoid it's dust magnet properties.

Those look great, Amar! In reference to other's comments about dust, the vaseline is really intended to help prevent corrosion under adverse conditions. It won't help with the dust.

Got to love the Fuchs. One of the the biggest reason why I would never part with my Carrera.

What does the Brake Dust Nano Skin do? How long have you been using it?

You're wheels look incredible, all of them! I can't imagine what the rest of the car looks like if the wheels are that clean!
