Default 911 owner looking for a 997... need advice

So, I'm starting the hunt for a 2008-ish 997. And I found this one, which is my desired color, model, year, price range, etc.

The carfax mentions this and I wanted some input on how bad this is? To me it sounds awful and I should stay away from this car. But maybe this is normal?

the 997 is a very reliable car and won some awards. Nothing on that list concerns me. I think you'll be fine. What model and what are the options?

The first one looks like was beaten up pretty bad that needed transmission, clutch replacement.. I'd stay away.

The 2nd one, I am not sure of the specific repair, and I let others comment.

PS. Is this on the same car? If so, STAY AWAY! There are MANY MINT 2007-2008 997.1s

That's my gut reaction too. I take my 86 911 to the track once and a while. I've never had to replace anything to that nature. I know, apples and oranges. But, this car sounds like it's seen some rough times.

There's a reason the price is that low... I seriously think this car was mishandled by previous owner to have such problems in such short period of time...

No problem... look around here too, you can find many nice 997s for sale. I am sure you've done your research, but basically the best 997.1 cars are 2007-2008 models, they got the new IMS, minor improvements here or there (for instance PCM/NAV is improved), and also came with more standard options than 05-06.

PPI'd this car. its been almost fully repainted. I bet you the seller (Jim in Largo - right?) didnt tell you that. He told me it had no paintwork at all. Carfax is clear but autocheck which he doesnt provide shows frame damage.

BTW he saw my reply to another thread asking about this car and been sending nasty emails ... He is some piece of work. Stay away at all costs.

Wow....that price is really low. Probably by $5-8k. I'm now afraid of this car. Average wholesale is around $52-58K which retails for $5k more. You'll want to go over this ride with a fine tooth comb.

Good man for warning him.

You know....scratched bumper or fascia re-paint is no big deal but frame damage and major body repair makes this car work $10-15k less at least.

I am not scared of a little paint work. Its rare to see a car in NYC that didnt have its bumpers repainted...

I do stay away from sellers who flat out lie to you, try to cover for it and mislead you after. The cherry on top was the name calling etc via email and text after. The guy is a true "professional" ...

Does nobody else notice the ghastly state of the front bumper? Why any seller would post up a pic of an aerokitted 911 without the front aerokit bit (lip) is beyond me. It looks disgusting.

I wouldn't touch this car with a 10 foot totem pole.

I saw the car pop up on autotrader the same day he posted it. I asked about the bumper and he said the car is at the local dealer getting the bumper replaced due to curb rash. He took pics prior to sending it off to get that done.

When I asked Jim about the tranny line item he said "must have been some rich broad driving it and burned the clutch"

I called the dealer that did the tranny work and was told its was a failed salve cylinder warranty job.

Called his local dealer to inquire about PPI and was told the car is still there. Battary was weak and being replaced as well as chin spoiler. I asked for a PPI... rest is detailed above
