Porsche logo question
Hi, I have a question about this particular logo? Anyone know what this is called or what does it say or stand for?
It looks to me like s p.
So Stuttgart Porsche, am I right?

It's on almost every single piece on your Porsche! It also comes on most all Porsche oem replacement parts. It's def Porsche specific.
Can't tell you the exact translation for it though.

So you had me out in the garage with a flashlight and I found the marking on a number of parts. Almost 30 years of owning Porsches and never paid attention to it. Shame on me! BTW, now that I've looked at it, it looks like a stylized modern "P" to me.

Are you still seeing an "S" in there? You may need to have your eyes examined.

It is a warning about some positioning of parts to watch out for. I don't have ceramic brakes or single lug wheels, so I'm not sure what the issues or concerns are when mounting or removing or aligning any of those parts.
Maybe it has to do with how that component is bolted to the brake pad to make sure you do it the right way, else you break the bake pad.

Its a triangle.. so its a 'warning indicator'. One needs to look at it with the triangle right side up.

Interesting theory, but I found the same symbol next to the part number on my battery, hood struts, hoses and other parts that one wouldn't normally think of as directional or involving positioning.

Porsche Genuine Parts Symbol, Just for yuks we have a 959 in the shop with wheels off and they are cast inside the wheel. Our parts department says it is only on the Porsche Approved Genuine Parts.. tested and approved, we compared similar Bosche parts and the symbol is not present.

This has appeared on every Porsche OEM part since the beginning of time. If you don't see it on certain thing then you can bet it's an unauthorized aftermarket piece.
The best test of this are cast wheels that LOOK like a factory delivered wheel. However, the ones made out of old aluminum soda cans and cast in China don't have that.
