Default How to purchase a CPO

Recently bought an '06 C2S, from a private individual, which now has about 40K on the odo...

I'd like to consider getting a CPO.

Can I get a CPO from a dealer?

Is there a magic dance, or secret handshake, I have to know?

If you already have title for it - I am not sure if it is possible. It probably could be done when car was getting sold - it had legally go to dealer and then from a dealer to you, but with cpo.

CPO can only come from a 'authorized' Porsche dealer. If you already bought the car it's too late. Off course I've heard of cases where you 'sell' the car to a dealer, have them 'CPO' it and then sell it back to you w/ a mark-up in price.

CPO can only be applied by a dealer on a car that it is selling. So as others have said, some dealers have agreed to let someone buy a Private Party vehicle through the dealer so the dealer can apply the CPO warranty. So in your case you may be forced to buy a 3rd party extended warranty from Fidelity or EasyCare. Best to check with your dealer, as the dealer's price will likely be better than going directly to the insurance company. Good luck.

An extended warranty might be a much better alternative as CPO coverage is not the same as original factory and there are gaps on items that are big tickets if broken.

I thought about the CPO alternative and just went with Fidelity Platinum policy for another 7 years 70K miles from date of when contract was executed.

Thanks guys!

MJ, what's the deal with Fidelity Platinum? What can I expect to pay for something like the 7/70?

You'll pay a fortune for 7/70, if it's even available, unless your car is still under factory warranty. When I looked at them, prices were pretty reasonable for up to 4/48, and then jumped way up around $12-$15K for years beyond that. My dealer suggested I buy now, and check again in a year, and we could always cancel the existing contract if it made sense to buy another 4/48 then.
