Interest in new rubberized A/C & Fan switches?
Hi guys,
I'm speaking with one of my factories that could do a small run of fan and temp switches to replace the rubberized ones that go bad on our cars. The costs are quite manageable and so far seem much cheaper than sending them out to be repainted. How much interest do you think there is? I am working on two options. One is painting it to match the other buttons. The other option is putting the rubber coating back on and trying to improve the quality of it. I would eventually expand into all the rubberized bits that go bad in Ferrari, etc, etc, too.
Thanks for your opinions...
Kind Regards,
Christopher

Im not an expert but I thought all model years 05-11 had the rubberized switches...maybe someone with more knowledge might have the facts. Are you original owner? Maybe previous owner made the painted repair. In any case I would be interested to know if earlier ones were just painted. Mine is an 06 with dreadfully sticky switchgear. No doubt it was compromised by cleaners etc.

I am interested, I have an 05 Boxster. The switches are rubberized from 2005 - 2008. I am not sure about the .2 body styles.
FYI - Stickynomore paint the 2 climate switches and put light up logos on them for under $75

That's how my '05 is. I'm the second owner, but the car was originally sold by the same dealer I got it from and the car was traded whilst still under factory warranty, so next time I'll ask my advisor to check the service Hx to see if they were changed out. Definitely these have not been redone aftermarket, I've seen those and they don't look quite as perfect. Perhaps these, like the engines, are replaced with updated versions which function better than the original errant designs. I do know that Porsche has not abandoned or improved the soft-touch paint on the interior. Last time I was at the dealer I saw a 2010 in sand beige where the ashtray cover was obviously peeling.

Can anyone do anodized aluminum? You'd lose the illumination, but it would be pretty cool. A few guys made some radio ***** and stuff over on M5 board and looked pretty nice.
