You may be able to send it in for an upgrade so it will work with the Live cord. Upgrade is like $125 - that's what I did with my 9500i. Sent it in - rec'd my "new" 9500ix in a week.

I've used Trapster, its not as user friendly as Escort Live IMO.

That's about all I've heard. Anyone?
Lidar jammers work if you buy the right ones and install them correctly. From the testing I have done and witnessed I would ONLY buy LI. All the other popular brands got punch throughs again and again.
K40 is junk on radar and lidar. I know I have it. It was installed by the dealership by the previous owner. V1 smokes it on ALL bands for radar. I wouldn't trust the K40 to jam a tv remote. Yes on some Lidar guns K40 with give a jam code on the gun.
As far as legal or not. Just turn it OFF after you slow down. DO NOT JAM ALL THE WAY TO THE GUN. LI also has a special feature that will help out in states that jammers are illegal. Just ask them about the hidden menu.

V1 - used it for many years and saved me many many times. I've heard some really good things about Escort and the Laser defusers (or whatever you call it). Assuming those are legal in your state that's really great because there's very little protection against lasers. But know that with lasers a V1 is going to sniff out the particles given they do scatter before you get lazed. Ask me how I know. I just want to say if you're the target of a laser and you're over the limit, it doesn't matter what you have unless you're able to diffuse it. The "diffuser" are illegal in many states so check it out. At the end of the day Radar/Laser Detection is just one of the components of "situational awareness".

Good luck with your decision.

Installed a Laser Jammer and Escort 9500ix a year ago.
The Radar Detector was annoying and distracting and I never experienced it saving me from a potential radar trap. I disconnected it and put it on a shelf.
The Jammer on the other hand has saved me a half a dozen times. Only ticket I received was when the Dealer's Service Department inadvertently turned the jammer off.

Which jammer? where did you install the sensors/jammers? and is it legal in your state? Pics would be great!

common sense says that SOMEONE should be making a better detector than my V1. So I tried the 9500ix. The ability to map out false alarms from garage doors etc is nice, but I found that the V1 had much better range enough to make me take the Escort off and keep the V1.

You need to get a radar that you can silence X and K signal alerts , or it will drive you crazy. X and K are emitted by security systems and automatic door opening sytems at every mall on earth. I have a cheap radar detector and I just don't use it any more, even though its wired to turn on whenever the ignition is on, I turn it off manually because the false alerts just drive me nuts.

Situational awareness is the best defense in the era of instant on radar.

Situation awareness is key. My Escort Redline has also saved my pocket book on several occasions over the pass year. The range is much better than my wife's 9500ix. Has anyone tried both the Redline and V1? Always wondered how those compare. BTW, laser diffusers are illegal in TX as of 01SEP11. http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs...pdf#navpanes=0 otherwise I would definately own one.

I went with the Laser Interceptor after reading as much as I could.
It's not cheap with install but worth it.
Getting a new Cayenne soon and will install a new Laser Interceptor. Debating whether to get a Bel Electronics SRi radar detector too.
My understanding is that it is remote so it does not clutter the dash or windshield and maintains overall Stealth.
Anyone had any experience with this one?

Could u pls post some pics of your install?

I am also considering LI, but not sure how the install would look like or is involved.

Thanks

The hardest part of the LI install is taking your time. I removed my front bumper cover to run the head wire to the front grills. Ran each wire along the sides of the hood under the black plastic. I then ran both of those wire through the rubber gromet in the fire wall just behind the battery.

I have the V1 in my RS4 and the 9500ci in the targa. I like them both. The directional arrows on the V1 are a HUGE win and the V1 seems to have better range on the highway. I have the X band turned off. The bogey counter & arrows really are the selling point.

If the 9500 had directional arrows it would be a no brainer. The ability to shut off speed signs is fantastic, especially since I pass by 2 of them every day. The laser jammer has saved me a few times as well.

It's a tough call since they are both great. I'd probably chose the V1 for road trips and the 9500 for around town.

MFank:
Has the Radar portion on the Escort saved you?
Riding around Atlanta especially on the highways without laser protection makes me feel naked.
In the last 5 years I have never received a speeding ticket written based on Radar.
